It’s an incredibly bad idea for the BDL vice governors to ask Parliament/Govt to pass a law to compel the Bank to lend money to the Govt. The VGs set an awful precedent by suggesting it.

1. If this is interpreted as Parliament directly controlling the use of Central Bank reserves, there's a possibility this *could* weaken the legal protection of such reserves from lawsuits by Eurobond-holders. This legal analysis should have been done before this topic was even broached.

2. The ability to carry out monetary policy independent of political considerations is a cornerstone of effective central banking. I’ve never seen a central bank willfully undermine its own independence by asking for political interference in its fundamental prerogatives. If we set this precedent today, who is to say the Parliament won’t pass a second law down the line to force the BDL to keep lending to the Gov’t. What if BDL decides to stop lending when the Parliament/Gov’t don’t enact any reforms, the impact is politically painful, and so another law is passed to force the BDL to keep lending.

3. The BDL doesn’t need a new law to allow it to lend to the Govt. That is its choice subject to the limitations in the Code of Money and Credit. “Legal Reserves” or “Mandatory Reserves” are made-up obstacle. The BDL can spend its foreign currencies in any way it decides in furtherance of its legal/institutional objectives.

BDL should stop funding all fiscal operations, which include the deficit, off-budget subsidies like Sayrafa and public sector salaries, and the cost of liquidating deposits via circulars, etc. Fiscal debt monetization is not limited to the narrow definition of the budget deficit.

What's happening today is another serious blow to any hope of regaining the independence of BDL. The vice governors should’ve been doing the exact opposite of this. It's a consequence of appointing people with no central banking experience at such a critical time.

Autism often coexists with other conditions, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyspraxia, dyslexia, dyscalculia, depression, and generalized anxiety disorder. People with autism can exhibit exceptional intelligence, artistic or creative abilities, impressive memory, and heightened levels of empathy. Some theories suggest that autism emerged in humans approximately 100,000 years ago. Certain historians argue that autism has played a significant role in humanity's progress, as individuals with autism have exhibited exceptional traits throughout history, including their ability to exist outside of societal norms, excel in complex mathematics (contributing significantly to architecture), and demonstrate remarkable organizational skills.

It is essential to acknowledge that Hans Asperger, despite his contributions to understanding autism, should not be glorified, as he was complicit in sending numerous autistic children under his care to their deaths in gas chambers. Autistic individuals are extraordinary, resilient, and valuable members of our society.
