Namastey from Thailand! We are attending the 16th International Congress on the Chemistry of #Cement in Bangkok. This #iccc conference occurs every 4 years, and has been running since 1918. Thanks 🙏 to the local organizing committee in Thailand for their generous hospitality!

Cements are complex mixtures of multiple, micron-sized crystalline phases.

We now report, using #Raman imaging, 'phase-specific' particle size distributions that can predict #cementitious performance.

2nd paper from our group is now out! Took ~1.5 years, now we can

➡️ Quantify majority of phases in #cement
➡️ Achieve high R2 (>0.98) with other methods using 250,000 spectra collected per 5x5 mm #Raman image (10 μm/pixel)

1st paper with my 1st Ph.D. student is now out. Using Raman imaging on granites (unpolished specimens!), we enable rapid collection of phase maps which have:

➡️High-resolution (sub-micron)
➡️High-fidelity and accuracy (>97%)
