OMG That's Truth rite there. Driving from the Al Yamama Hotel to the base was a friggin nightmare. Worse than any hard refueling I ever did. My Co Steave "the Burn" Burnard was the only crewman capapble of driving in Riyahd.
Their road rules were non existant or ,,,very different than ours hahaa. Obligatory road rage revenge for cutting you off or not going fast evough was required. I always said these ppl traded in their camels for BMWs and driving there was like The Smash-Up Crash-Up demolishion Derby: I saw Beemers colliding On Purpose with Mercades just bcs well, thats the custom if you get insulted by another "driver" Haha. We had the old big GMC 4 door crew cab pick ups then so I felt Relatively safe. But Dam, there were so many luxury cars just abandoned on the roadside with just a bit of fender damage I thought wow, what a gold mine if you could ship those back to the states and just repair them you'd have $100k dollar cars for almost free haa. Hell , no auto shops if you smash up their beemers they just go buy another one. No cops, no insurrance, no going to court, you just Get Even Haaa. And whats with the laying on the horns at EVERY single stop light? Like,, they're gonna make them turn green faster? OMG its rediculous. However, that was the biggest thrill of the mission, Refueling AWACS was a relaxing walk in the park after just GETTING to the Base hhaa.
@BoeingB52BUFF Haaa, looking out of my Boom window for a thousand flt hrs that looks like easily a 75 degree bank angle, WTF? Is a goin on here? I got hundreds of pics of the Buff in my boom space... never did more than 30. is this a test flight for some data?
thats a perty fkn hard bank angle. I know we did it. I did it occasionally but Dam... That looks like More than 30 degrees, our standard track was 15. WTF is a wifferdill seriously ima former Boomer and I never did this... Thats cray cray, Haa. yes we could do it. but not standard procedures. i got many pics of Buffs in my window on bank,, but dam.... this don't look rite to me. whats really going on here? you can tell me I had a TS clearence haa...
yes,,, but what do you think? louder than those Pratts J -57s on the A models? Tankers? One cannot say but OMG my ears are still ringing... I should get disabled status in the VA for that, fuk those things screamed high pitch decibles. I dont think it was so much the deciples but the Pitch frequency that destroyd my ears. High squeeling pitch those things did. dont matter they were All Loud, Haaa. Buffs got 8 fkn screamers. oh well. Thats what I signed up for in the Air Force, You know you gunna be around jet engines. The Varks were rockin the base in AB all night long and you just adapt to it.... now I cant sleep without background noise Hahaa...
I recall doing two sorties a day back in the Elf One days. IDK uuum 85 86. ? They were also perty short missions but maybe 2 or 3 hours, Durring the Iran/ Iraq war. we were hitting AWACS, over the INFINITE Dunes. But 2 short flights was better than one LOOOONG Boomer Ass night mission on a 141 over the North Seas by any measure hahaa. if you know you know . I didnt mind 2 short sorties a day given as you said...no crash n dashes and no co pilot go- a -rounds. just get the job done and back to the AL Yamma Motel, Haha. Good times over Planet Tattooine. Protecting the Sand Ppl, and the Tusken Raiders. Haa. Dammit that Millenium Falcon never showed up,,, Must have got Himself Carbonized somehow...
@Duke5563@BuzzPatterson seriously.../ 1st day in lackland was better than these guys hahaaa. My drill Sgt wld be kickin our asses after midnight if we perfomed this bad,,,
Love the name Strato Feeders, and the concept. Ill buy a few. A models or Rs or Q models . you gotta have a Q for special CIA fuel ya know?... Haa.
SR 71 Black Birds.... or black humming birds haa.
I flew the Boom in some of the Qs. High Speed booms. I gotta have some of these strato feeders... I still have the DASH ONE Manual on the tankers ,,any technical issues you have Im sure I can work it out haaa. I know the system inside and out. Lets collaborate... Peace Boom Out🫡✈️
I recall on post mission the Chief wld dump the LOX on the tarmac. on a sheet of metal. they wld tell us not to come near the gas bcs we had pens and boots and all kinds of shit that could ignite the lox. It was in our Dash One cautions and warnings also. But i recall watching that gas off liquid 02 on the jet. very cool . I mean cold also. but cool to watch them do it. My Chief wld tell me to stay away but I didnt know why. until now.
but that shit is pure hangover cure for real, hahaa, sweet as honey. thanks for that exsplanation of the oil and 02 thing. it makes sence now why they cldnt have even a pen in their pockets. Good to have support crews who know WTF they were doing. I used to get high on that stuff in pre flight, on the mask. Haa, we had to do a ox check you know. mine took a little bit longer to check sometimes hahaa.😵💫
in FLT school they put us in a barometric chamber and took us up to about 20,000 FT pressure and 02. at altitude to show us what 02 deprivation feels like. everyone started farting and getting goofy and silly as fk...laughing our asses off but,, thats what lack of 02 does to ya. Opposite of hangover cure it actually feels like being drunk, dizzy then you pass out, too late you're dead. sooo, I really appreciate you guys who took care of us on the LOX systems... without you we couldnt fly. and uhhh try not to freeze anymore frogs, Frogs lives matter too Hahaa.... Peace out..Boom Out. Salute🫡🇺🇸✈️ Q said pepe' lives🐸
thats what I thought too. Hahaa. But you know,,, those Co Pilot landings we did...over and over and zzzzz boom's asleep in the chair untill.... Nav wakes up and says,,, holy shit Where's the runway? All I can see is grass and the Tower at 30 feet to touchdown, Haa.... but that was a nice save on the last bird, we could learn a thing or two by watching birds, they only been doing it for a million years longer than we. Haa...🤣
welcome to mu Hood Buzz. The Biggest Little Town in Nevada. Haa, Its a nice place to live.
been here 60 or wait what.?.. umm 62 years.
still a hokey little Cow town as my Dad used to call it. just be aware of those Washoe Zephers coming in at exactly 1400 as Mark Twain used to write about haaa, "Roughing It" Strong Cross winds, but really good para sailing and hang gliding, or wind surfing on Washoe lake. you can set your watch to the zephers... 2 oclock PM rite on schedule. we got the The 152nd Airlift Wing, C-130 Hurcs here too. Recon, and etc.
always a good plane spotter spot directly on approach or Launch, from my company's location on Hymer Ave just in line with the 16R/34L, 16L/34R, or 9/27 depending on winds. They are just a minute from touchdown. we're so close to the runway I Have to look up. Once in a while I see my old Tankers KC-135 R, I flew in the A's.. But ya. Its a thrill and I always wave, Salute!, to my boys and Gals in the Tankers. And Hurcs, They don't see me at that critical moment but it's fun to salute anyways.
Come see the Wild Mustangs in the Washoe valley, where I live, before the assholes build a 27 mile fence around us to keep THEM out of our lake, or US in,,, Beautiful beings they are, Hanging out at the lake rite now. I don't get it. Horses are not the problem, ppl are.
just sayin, there's gonna be miles of holes in that fence if they build it,, cuz,,, my people are so Native Nevada. Battle Born, A prediction, not a suggestion. we got bugout spots up there and hunting grounds. old Paiutes and Wa- She -Shu wont have it. This is their lands. We like to say Trump, build that wall between US and California Haaa... Cuz we don't want the Cali politics here. but Buzz you are the 1st exile from LA that I 100 % welcome hands down. Any 141 Pilot from the cold war era is absolutely solid in my book. hahaa, Even tho you gave me near death night refuelings over the N . Atlantic seas, Haaa... WHY? Always at night? Good Times tho , I Salute you guys. 🫡✈️ I don't know how you managed to Park that thing 60 feet from my Boom. Or 20 feet in some butt puckering ARs, Hahaa,, or how we managed to get you contact. with 85 k lbs off, But we did it, Together ya?.. so Welcome to RNO Buzz, The 80's were the best right?...
Boom Out, 🫡🇺🇸. Happy 250th.
@BuzzPatterson@scherer_karla gotta hit the Nude beach just once, haa, Oh wait, I was 17 when we did that, scratch that, wife would not approve that mission.
@GinieSigonney@Farley2030 I'd rather think that was a No Geer Down Hydrolic Failure and the pilot pulled off a perfect Emerency No Geer landing Haha. Beautiful.
Who ever did this is pure genious hahaa,
Sitting directly behind the Pilot I can say Iv'e more than a few of that last bird in windsheer Haaa. He should have gone around. Had to add a little more thrust at the end there Haa. But a nice SAVE. Those were "pop the hatch, deploy the ladder and Kiss the Tarmac landings." Nice job to the Author 👏✈️
That would make a great traing vid for Flt School Hahaa.
@Major1tyRules@SGTWipper1Each LOX is no joke, never got to play with that shit but... dam sweet to breathe in the mask, esp with a hangover when you busted crew rest haaa. holy shit talk about a cure for hang over. 100% 02 is a rush. and tastes like honey.
