I'm excited to announce that I'm running again for Arden Hills City Council. I'm eager to get to work advocating for a more welcoming, sutainable, and just community.

A great day to talk to neighbors about @JonVanoeveren and @YolandaMagee621 and their campaigns for Mounds View School Board. Election Day is this Tuesday!
- The first time the BWCA closed in 45 years due to wildfires
- First tropical storm to hit New York in 30 years
- Record rains and flooding in Tennessee - 17" of rain in one day, potential US record
Has it sunk in that we are in a #ClimateCrisis yet? How will we respond?
“[This report] is a code red for humanity. The alarm bells are deafening, and the evidence is irrefutable: greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel burning and deforestation are choking our planet and putting billions of people at immediate risk.”

Although countries promised in 2015 to cut the emissions driving climate change, they have delayed action for so long, a hotter planet is unavoidable, a new major climate report finds. But there's still time to avoid a dire future. https://t.co/cSqOltDALJ
Things that you do when climate change is an emergency:
- End fossil fuel subsidies and donations
- Shut down coal power by 2030
- Immediately ban all fossil fuel exploration
- Plan to wind down coal/gas mining ASAP
- Ban combustion engine sales by at least 2035 #IPCC
The difference between 1.5°C & 3°C global warming means vastly different scenarios for our future.
The length of droughts, the spread of diseases & more hinge on these few degrees.
Limiting temperature rise is still possible if we #ActNow. https://t.co/X0Shwfcd3n via @UNFCCC
An utterly crushing day for Big Oil
1) Chevron investors demand emission cuts
2) Dutch court tells Shell to cut emissions by half
3) Exxon shareholders buck the company and elect directors demanding climate action.
Thanks to all who fight--you push long enough and dominoes tumble
Thread: If you're looking for COVID-19 vaccine appointments make sure you're signed up with the Minnesota Vaccine Connector. Doing so gives you the chance to be randomly selected for an appointment at one of the state’s community vaccination locations.

Confused about the #PolarVortex? Usually a strong jet stream confines Arctic air to the north, stabilized by a big difference in temperature between low and high latitudes. The smaller the difference in temperature, the more the wind belts meander (Via @RemoteLongitude & @NOAA)
"The structure of local government allows small groups of (typically unrepresentative) people to block new development for a variety of concerns, from 'neighborhood character' to the belief that low-income housing will drag down property values."

As Minnesota falls further behind our statewide emission reduction goals, a lot of the blame falls on the transportation and land use policies of suburban cities like Arden Hills. We can't continue our pollution-as-usual approach.
