In the recent months the sale of the old Camrose ground to SNG was confirmed. I’ve written to the Council Leader calling for cast-iron guarantees that every penny that the council gets from the Camrose sale is reinvested into grassroots football and local sports. The loss of the Camrose was an injustice for this community - It now falls to us to put that right, and invest in local sport for the long term! ⚽

Today I’ve written to the leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to express my disappointment that no thought has been given to the council’s decision not to invest in a temporary ice rink.

We need to find a solution that works for everyone. We must provide for residents and invest in our area.

I had such a great morning with the students, teachers and coaches of @btfc_academy.

The academy & @Basingstoke_FC are doing exceptional work on the pitch, in the classroom & in the community - often against the odds.

There’s no doubt that the club has suffered blow after blow in recent years, but through the hard work of some exceptional people, plus a passionate and growing fanbase - they continue to defy the odds.

After being robbed of their historic Camrose home, too much of the clubs future lies in the hands of others.

They need support, and as the MP, I’d work with the club, supporters, & the community to help secure its future. Thank you for the warm welcome and keep up the brilliant work!
