When folks think about highly vaccinated places in America
They think Vermont or CT or MA
Those places are good
But not the most vaccinated place in America
So who's #1?
Puerto Rico!
But PR has gotten way too little attention
Its worth reflecting on how they did it

Navigating daily life while avoiding Covid is about weighing your personal risks and benefits — and we have tools to decrease the risks. Getting vaccinated is the most important thing you can do to protect yourself. Masks, distancing, and good ventilation also drive down risk.
These voluntary targets for reduction of sodium in food has the potential to save lives and improve health. It’s critical industry continue steps to reduce unnecessary use of sodium in food. This longstanding FDA commitment will provide a science based framework for these goals.
A big mix and match vaccine report in 458 participants with Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, then getting another vaccine 12 weeks later: markedly increased neutralizing antibody response by mixing (up to 76-fold) w/ these 9 combinations (Figure)

Kudos to FDA on voluntary action today on sodium. Researchers have estimated that reducing sodium intake by one-half teaspoon a day could prevent nearly 100,000 premature deaths a year, and up to 120,000 new cases of coronary heart disease, 66,000 strokes, 99,000 heart attacks.
We'll likely look back on the pandemic as the beginning of the mRNA intervention era, not just for infectious diseases, but cancer, autoimmune conditions, heart disease, organ repair and more https://t.co/sUdWPXq64s by @nikasgari@ian_bott_artist
The improved maize joins Bt cotton and pod borer-resistant Bt cowpea as genetically modified crops that can help Nigeria’s smallholder farmers reduce pesticide use, increase yields, support food security and respond to climate extremes.

US taxpayers paid for Moderna's invention. Both Moderna and Pfizer have made billions in profit. Yet Moderna in particular is behaving as if they have no responsibility beyond maximizing profit. If they fail to help the world ramp up vaccine production, millions could die.
There have been over 4 million #SARSCoV2 genomes sequenced. And there have only been 4 variants of concern (VoC), culminating with Delta. A 5th VoC that would compete with Delta is something we do not want to see: the need to contain the virus globally.

Herd immunity to Covid may be an impossible dream. But vaccination is still our most powerful tool against the virus, and we must increase vaccinations globally to prevent deaths, preserve health care, and reduce spread.

You're well protected against Covid after you get vaccinated. But when almost everyone around you is vaccinated too, you're even better protected! The more of us get vaccinated, the safer everyone is.
Just published @NEJM
Breakthrough infections in health care workers before and during the Delta wave
mRNA Vaccine effectiveness vs symptomatic infections dropped from 94% to 66% [95% CI 49,77]
Signs that the US Delta wave is losing steam
—Test positivity is decreasing
—Hospital admissions are decreasing, total hospitalizations at a ~100,000 plateau
—Slowing in new case growth
Let's hope this continues........
This doesn't look good
