I'm not convinced this is true. There's data showing voters prefer Poilievre over Trudeau for handling Trump. And the Liberals are going to have a rough year managing the US-CAD relationship. If we get hit with tariffs, the economy will tank, too.
There seems to be a view out there that a politician is only "allowed" to have a view on monetary policy for a short period every five years when the Bank of Canada mandate is up for renewal. I don't agree.
