그간 한국 애니메이션을 리뷰하던 IGN코리아가 이젠 한국 웹툰을 리뷰하기 시작하게 되었습니다. 계속 IGN코리아에 한국 애니메이션에 대한 리뷰를 작성하던 제가 웹툰의 리뷰도 같이 이어 나가게 되었습니다.

그 첫 작품은 2020년에 연재를 시작해 작년에 본편, 그리고 최근 외전까지 완결된 MURO 작가의 @murotoon 네이버 웹툰 연재작 <저무는 해, 시린 눈> 입니다. (작품은 2월 10일부터 유료화됩니다.)

2010년대부터 한국 웹툰을 말할 때 ‘로맨스 판타지‘를 결코 빼놓을 수 없는 상황이며, <저무는 해, 시린 눈>도 이러한 장르에 속하는 만화라고 할 수 있습니다. 하지만 <저무는 해, 시린 눈>은 대다수의 로맨스 판타지 웹툰과 계속 다른 길을 걸어 갑니다. 속도도 느리고, 쉽게 쾌감을 주지도 않습니다. 꽤나 느리고 상세하게 이야기를 풀어갑니다.

하지만 그러한 전개가 작품의 고유한 특성이 됩니다. 대다수 작품에서 쉽게 지나치기 쉬운 ‘전쟁’이 만드는 아픔과 후유증을 다루고, 이에 대한 회복의 과정을 관계의 진전과 연결시키고 있기에 더욱 그렇습니다. 작품에 대한 자세한 이야기가 궁금하시면, 본문을 통해 확인해주시면 감사하겠습니다.

“주인공인 에르킨과 힐데가르를 비롯해 작품에 등장하는 거의 모든 등장인물은 어떤 식으로든 전쟁으로 인한 영향에서 자유롭지 않다. (…) 그러기에 본래는 적국 관계에 속한 두 주인공의 사랑은 그저 서로에 대한 애정을 인식하는 행위의 차원에서 벌어지지 않는다. 서로 지닌 과거의 아픔을 인식하고 진정으로 마주 보며, 서로의 상처를 감싸안고, 더 이상의 슬픔이 없는 세계를 향해 나아간다. 이것이 저무는 해, 시린 눈에서 묘사되는 사랑의 과정이다.”

Also, i love how this truly felt like the finale to rinascita. The ending was perfect. It really felt like the finale. Perfection
