What if your biggest gains come wrapped in your biggest regrets?

Here’s my raw, unfiltered journey with @HyperliquidX - the highs, the lows, and 3 decisions I still lose sleep over.

Let’s dive in.

How it started
July 2023
- Saw friends mention a perp dex called Hyperliquid
- Did basic DD and there wasn’t much team info available. @chameleon_jeff 's X had low follower count, faded for a week. Had it in mind to do further DD. Researched further into founder's background, and started depositing into vaults. As a DeFi degen at heart, 300-400% APR was impossible to ignore.

Aug-Sep 2023
- Met @tolycrypto, a fren of the team for coffee. This meet reaffirmed my bullishness.
- Helped to organise and coordinate Hyperliquid's first ever brunch meet-up (i think) with a small group of 10ish folks during 2023's Token2049
- Started to talk about Hyperliquid on my channel: https://t.co/a2jiQoBU3d

October 2023
- Heard about the points program on a call with team, but personally faded it as the entire market was saturated with the points meta.
- Points announcement was shortly released after: https://t.co/0hpwNBioYC
[First major regret: Overlooking the points system and not diving into trading earlier as I'm not really a trader]

November 2023
- Interviewed with HL for a community role, was offered the job for a trial period but unfortunately I declined as I was with another project at that period of time.
[Second major regret: Arguably one of the worst decisions of my time in crypto - failing to see the potential and not dropping everything to go all in.]

Nov-June 2024
- Kept fading the points program and barely earned any, even though I was constantly sharing Hyperliquid links and the HLP vault. I HL-pilled frens like @smartestmoney and many many others on it. [If we met for coffee during this time, you would have definitely hear me talk about Hyperliquid - Funnily enough Smartest faded HL too, understandably because the liquidity there wasn't as good as @binance at that time]

June 2024
- Wrote The Ultimate Guide to Hyperliquid: https://t.co/02x21M5OKq (One of the earlier community guides on TG).
- As I wrote the guide and did deeper research, started to look closer at the points system, and traded ALOT of spot during this period.

July 2024
- Purchased the https://t.co/ApHXqdfC9W handle on TG from its previous owner (it wasn't cheap), and gifted the handle to the team.
Fun fact: It was previously a channel for selling vapes 🤣
- At the same time, seriously pursued the idea of supporting the Hyperliquid team @iliensinc @KingJulianIAm and @chameleon_jeff , and spent alot of time thinking about how to support them from the outside - since they are chad builders highly focused on the perp dex and L1, new features, and wanted to do something to help connect the builders and community.
- Formed a dedicated group on TG, HypurrCore, bringing together key individuals including devs, builders, founders, VCs, and market makers such as @CL207, @Darrenlautf, @based16z, @fiege_max, @laurentzeimes, @0xBroze, and others. with the goal to foster open discussions and collaboration to explore ways to support the HL ecosystem.

How it's going
Personally
- Received a decent airdrop and watched $HYPE launch at $3, drop to $2, and had limit orders at $1.5 which never got filled.
[Third regret: Hesitating instead of hitting market buy.]
- I’m not counting any Hyperliquid ecosystem gains as profits just yet— as they’re unrealized. I don't like to count my eggs before they hatch, or give myself a false idea of a safety net.
- Historically, I haven't been great at taking profits and worry about repeating the round-trips I've experienced in past cycles. With the current hype around Hyperliquid, I'm approaching it cautiously, though I remain cautiously optimistic that HL could break into the top 5 by the next cycle.

HypurrCollective
- Ideated with @0xVelocity88 about @hypurr_co and brought on @NarwhalTan after a coffee meet-up, and launched HypurrCollective as a community-driven effort to support the Hyperliquid ecosystem in our free time.

Since its inception, we’ve:
1. Hosted Hyperliquid's first community events at @token2049 and @EFDevcon.
2. Established two key groups:
- HypurrCore: An invite-only hub for builders, devs, KOLs, VCs, and market makers.
- HypurrCo & Frens: A broader community space for discussions and ecosystem growth (Invite link: https://t.co/DVLoVrAWqC)
3. Connected projects within the eco to the core HL team and other synergistic teams like @stakewithus @etherscan
4. Built community resources

Most importantly, we’re preparing to launch our validator, in partnership with @nansen_ai's @stakewithus . We’ve procured bare-metal nodes in Tokyo near team nodes and already have a couple airdrops secured for future HypurrCo stakers, with @hyperlendx , @RUG_on_HL , @OmniX_NFT , and Moon.
