Boeing 737 fuselages are built by Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, KS before being loaded on rail cars and starting the long journey to the assembly lines at Renton.
For the vast majority of these fuselages, it’s an uneventful ride.
In 2014, three fuselages ended in a river.
A train carrying six B737 fuselages was traveling in Montana when 19 cars derailed. Three of the six fuselages fell off the cars but stayed on land. The other three slid down an embankment and came to rest in the Cross Fork River.
What a sight. Green airliner fuselages in a river in the middle of a forest in Montana.
