Interventional Radiologist in Ft. Collins, CO @MCW_VIR and @ColoradoIR trained. Passionate about palliative IR , Ohio State Athletics, and vintage trucks
@DrDiGiorgio@drsxr Patient side is ironically far less detailed. This is for a cystoscopy, 16.5k charges for <30min of OR time.
Called billing and asked how these charges are generated - 0 clue, explanation, or ability to get an explanation. Strong suspicion the deductible covers 100%total cost.
@PulmCrit I have a pretty bad type IV allergy to certain deodorants…
I can say with certainty hospital
laundered scrubs are not washed as well as they claim to be.
@dysclinic@SpineNeuro Curious then that IRs also dont perform every epidural for regional anesthesia… similar needle and anatomic access. One is just 1cm deeper than the other.
@DoctorCliffyy@nickgerli1 Bought a home built in 1978 built out of real brick and wood in a neighborhood w/ mature shade trees.
The alternative was a new build built out of spit and sticks for the same price with no natural barrier for the 300+ days of sunshine we get here
Noone wants these new homes

Structured in their bills as “Doctor/Facility” reimbursement. In this case, wRVU for double lung transplant is 137 - or about 5k of the 900k cost. Structured verbiage makes it seem that the docs reap most of that cost.
@KyleCooperMD Im in a 70%IR/30% WFH DR private practice. Worked in both 100% IR acad and pvt practices.
That 30% DR isn’t quite a vacation but the stress levels of a DR day are magnitudes lower than IR. Pay is identical, some cases better. If you have a family/kids the appeal is very real.
