There is a Bill in Parliament right now by Murugara and JLAC, i.e., Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and most Kenyans have NO idea what’s inside.

It creates a powerful, dangerous Criminal Procedure Rules Committee (see pages 19-20 of the Bill).

Who sits in it?
Chief Justice, AG(executive), Police IG, DPP, Commisioner prisons, EACC & others.
And what will they do?

They will make rules that courts must follow in criminal cases (p.19-20).
Not laws passed by Parliament.

Rules.

And these rules can influence things like:
Bail, bond terms, and much more

How cases are handled in court
How fast or slow cases move

Now imagine this:
You protest against Ruto.
You get arrested.
And Bail? Suddenly KSh 3M or more
And your Case? It drags for months, etc.

All “within procedure or these new rules that will keep changing.”

No law changed, just the rules.
And you had ZERO say in those rules.

It gets worse.
The Bill allows courts to declare you mentally unfit if you can’t understand proceedings or instruct a lawyer (p.8-10).

Then you can be detained in a mental facility for 14 days, extendable up to 6 months (p.12).
No conviction. Just procedure.

Ask yourself:
In a country where critics are already targeted, what could go wrong?

Yes, there are several good parts in the bill:
The ODPP must now seek court approval before dropping a case (p.6).

But let’s be honest:

This Bill gives the system cleaner, more structured ways for the government to control outcomes.

Very neat on paper.
Very dangerous in the wrong hands.

Read it. Don’t ignore it.

So there’s a healthcare bill in Parliament by Kimani Ichung’wah, currently at Second Reading

And if you care about your taxes, you should be paying attention.

In fact, I warned about this last week, that a lot of these bills in Parliament aren’t really about solving problems

They’re about creating offices that the Executive can fill.

Now look at this one 👇🏾

It proposes creating a new body called the Quality Healthcare & Patient Safety Authority.

Its roles?

- License hospitals
- Accredit facilities
- Inspect and audit
- Enforce compliance
- Handle complaints
- Set national standards

But, aren’t these roles already being done by KMPDC, PPB, even SHA, etc.?

And the bill is NOT scrapping those existing bodies.

This new authority will have duplicate roles to existing bodies.
They are creating another layer, offices,s and another budget.
Now, check the appointments side.

The CEO and top officials? Appointed by the Health CS.
And the CS? Appointed by the President.
This is exactly what I was talking about.
This is what parliament is doing now,
Create a new authority → create positions → Executive then uses them to reward friends.

And it’s all funded by our taxes.

At the same time, we’re being told:
“There’s no money.”
“We need austerity.”
But somehow there’s always money for:
-new authorities
-new boards
-new tribunals

Meanwhile:
Hospitals are struggling
Patients are fundraising
Healthcare workers are overwhelmed

I don’t know,
Maybe I’m overthinking it.
But it’s starting to look like these “reforms” are less about wananchi
and more about expanding space for appointments.

You bought one of those Affordable Housing flats in 2024 under William Ruto.

For something you spent years building your life around.

Then you’re told: move on. What do you even do at that point? Start again? With what?
Fight who? The same system that approved it?

Sounds extreme?

But let’s be honest, in Kenya, is it really impossible?
We’ve already seen warning signs,
projects with ownership questions,
some reportedly without proper title deeds,
and even residents rejecting projects in places like Githunguri.

Yet people are still buying.
Because we trust the government wouldn’t allow such a risk, right?

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
By 2035, Ruto won’t be president.
The people telling you “buy now” will be long gone.

And you?
You’ll be left standing there, watching your home come down.

If the mother title is flawed, everything built on it can collapse legally.
Don’t just accept a sectional title. Ask for the mother title. Verify it.
