Today, as we mark the inaugural 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we celebrate a defining milestone in our nation’s journey toward a healthier, more resilient future. This occasion is more than a commemoration; it is a 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭—a resolute commitment to embedding proactive health measures across our national landscape. Anchored in the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (#NHSRII), this movement reflects Mr. President’s @officialABAT #RenewedHope Agenda, envisioning a healthier and more prosperous life for all Nigerians.
The NHSRII framework is a transformative roadmap, prioritizing preventive health, community empowerment, and strengthening health systems at every level. Through this initiative, we are boldly shifting from a reactive healthcare model to one that empowers and actively produces health for every Nigerian. Today’s launch is a signal of our resolve to sustain wellness, ease the burden on our healthcare facilities, and preserve essential resources for those in greatest need.
At the heart of this movement is the pivotal role played by our state Governors @NGFSecretariat and Commissioners of Health, whose leadership and commitment are indispensable to the initiative’s success. From the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 signed with the federal government, states, local governments, and development partners to the robust execution of the 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧, our Governors and Commissioners are leading a health revolution across Nigeria. We especially recognize Dr. Banji Filani @okeanaye, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, for his vital role in advancing this campaign, which aims to engage 10 million Nigerians in monitoring their 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐥. By equipping citizens with knowledge of these critical health indicators, we empower them to prevent silent killers like hypertension and diabetes.
Today’s milestone is a unifying moment, embracing a “whole of government and whole of society” approach. This movement has brought together federal, state, and local leaders, development partners, civil society, and our newly appointed 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Together, we are building a national commitment to wellness, health literacy, and disease prevention that will reshape the landscape of Nigeria’s population health.
This is our collective movement—together, we are forging a healthier, stronger Nigeria.
