A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp under the “UTSARGA” initiative was organized today by Hare Street Police Station and South East Traffic Guard.
The programme was graced by Addl CP (I), Shri Devendra Prakash Singh, IPS, Jt CP Traffic, Shri Rupesh Kumar, IPS, and senior officers of Kolkata Police. Officers, personnel and members of the local community participated with great enthusiasm, reflecting a shared commitment towards this noble cause. A total of 122 donors voluntarily donated blood, making the initiative a remarkable success.

A misleading social media post is being circulated claiming that traffic was halted to facilitate the movement of the convoy of HCM. This claim is false and factually incorrect.
The traffic regulation seen in the circulated visuals was undertaken as part of a scheduled security and traffic arrangement in connection with the movement of the Secretary of State of the United States of America. In addition, traffic regulations are in place due to ongoing metro related work at Chingrighata.

A moment of accidental transfer turned into immense distress when a citizen mistakenly sent ₹40,000 to the wrong account through a digital payment platform.
Acting promptly on the complaint, the Cyber Cell of Central Division, Kolkata Police initiated swift follow-up and continuous coordination to trace and recover the amount. Owing to the dedicated efforts of the team, the entire ₹40,000 was successfully reclaimed and refunded to the victim’s account.
The victim has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the professionalism, prompt response, and relentless assistance provided by the officers.
Kolkata Police remains committed to assisting citizens and ensuring prompt action in cases of cyber-related grievances.

Under the blazing summer sun, while the city moves on, Kolkata Traffic Police personnel continue to stand steadfast at crossings and busy intersections, tirelessly performing their duties to keep citizens safe and traffic flowing smoothly.

Empowering Young Women Through Self-Defence Training
With an aim to promote confidence, safety and self-reliance among young women, the Community Policing Wing of Kolkata Police today organised a Self-Defence Training Workshop for SC/ST students of ‘Rani Rashmoni Chhatri Niwas Central Hostel for Girls’, Alipore, at Hastings House Ground from 06:00 hrs to 08:30 hrs.
The workshop is designed to equip the students with practical self-defence skills, enhance situational awareness and encourage mental resilience. The training programme will continue till 23.05.2026 under the guidance of trained instructors of Kolkata Police.

Acting on specific information, Kolkata Police arrested Satyabrata Basu Roy (28), resident of Niranjan Pally, Kolkata, under the jurisdiction of Bansdroni Police Station.
During the operation, two improvised country-made semi-automatic firearms along with four live cartridges were recovered and seized from his exclusive possession.
In this connection a specific case has been registered under Arms Act at Bansdroni PS. Further investigation is being carried on.
Swift Detection of Snatching Case; Accused Arrested and Stolen Gold Chain Recovered
In a swift breakthrough, Kolkata Police successfully detected a snatching case registered under Parnashree PS Case No. 290/2026.
The incident involved the snatching of a gold neck chain with pendant from an elderly woman during the early hours of 16.05.2026 in the Parnashree area.
Acting promptly during investigation, police arrested Ricky Singh (28), resident of Behala Govt. Quarter, Block-4 under Parnashree PS. The stolen gold neck chain along with the pendant was successfully recovered from his possession.
