Today in class I told one of my students how much I admired her creativity.
Her response: "You just made my day! I'm really gonna remember that" with the biggest smile on her face.
Our words matter. Make them count. #KidsDeserveIt
On day 2 of school, I had my third graders come up with our rules, consequences, and rewards. Give your Ss a voice, and they will shine!

My first week of school was amazing! I’m so blessed to have a job that I love.
Some highlights from the week include some notes my littles left me in my mailbox. Here are just a few.
“Mrs. Reed you have mail! You need to check your mailbox!” ❤️❤️❤️
Third grade here I come! I’m so excited for this next chapter in my career and life. I can’t wait to meet my kiddos in less than 2 weeks. #FirstYearTeacher
After my Ss found out that my anniversary was this week, a S did this.
“Mrs. Reed, I got you these pretty flowers & a card to make your anniversary extra special!”
This boy is 7 yrs old. He has the biggest heart of anyone I know.🌹 His kindness shines through. #MyWhy
Every morning I greet my students with an ESPN greeting.
E - eye contact
S - smile
P - personal touch (Ss initiate it; hug, handshake, high five, fist bump)
N - name
It starts each day on a positive note and every student is acknowledged and appreciated. #KidsDeserveIt
There’s nothing to lose by giving a #student a second chance.
Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
There’s only the possibility of strengthening a #relationship, demonstrating the power of #empathy, and instilling a glimmer of hopeful recovery.
Behavior is information. The ways our students respond to us is information. The way our colleagues interact is information. When you see behavior as information, you are better able to understand it.
No, they probably aren't TRYING to make your life miserable.

@HazenCourtney@janelance2nd Families of all types should be celebrated, and this is a great book to share with Ss to discuss all the many ways to be a family. The author of this book has also written a couple others about families with two moms/two dads. I will be adding this book to my library!
@janelance2nd A4. The book "This Is How We Do It" by Matt Lamothe is a wonderful book! It serves as a window as you learn about the lives of 7 kids from all around the world. It talks about what they eat and wear, how they get to school, how they play, and more. #MUPreserviceTeachers
