¡Haciendo camino @KSLMarin!

Why is this guy posting photos of himself eating a donut? 🍩
It may seem silly to share this moment, but it truly is a milestone for me…
It’s been at least 15 years since I’ve eaten a donut. At least.
I’ve struggled with disordered eating for most of my life. But in my mind, this moment marks the end of that struggle.
It’s not just that I ate a donut. Or any food in particular, really. It’s that I saw a box of donuts, decided to eat one, and felt zero apprehension or fear in doing so. In the past, I would have said no, made excuses, or used the typical, “sure, I’ll probably have one a bit later”
And if I had in fact eaten something akin to a donut, the world would have felt like it was falling down around me.
It was like that for so long — up until a few years ago, that is.
2020 brought us all so much trouble. But, one thing it also brought me was the chance to take a step toward finding redemption in this part of my mental health journey — my relationship with food.
Rather than fall into destructive behaviors when we all began working-from-home — all that time to myself to workout too much and eat too little — I decided to go on the offensive and begin telehealth therapy for disordered eating.
It’s taken several years, but today finally feels like the full-stop moment that concludes this leg of my journey.
As always, I share glimpses of my mental health journey, yes because I’m proud, but also to continue to shine a light on the hope that is always there for each of us to come out from under our hardships, our battles, and our struggles, no matter how long we have fought them.
You too can make strides.
Go have your “donut” 🍩
No matter that means to you…
If I can do it, you surely can too!
