@wheeler_laura I want Ss to see the value of this and not just as something they “have” to do. Reminding myself to make sure to have a lot of conversations about the purpose of the navigation instrument and how it is something to help document their learning.

@KirstDy@wheeler_laura Absolutely! This was really impactful for me to realize, letting students in on the formative assessment so they can both know where they are in really time and know where to go next
@wheeler_laura This is where I am really focusing on in the next few months. Students using navigation instruments to inform them and allow them to see where they are going and where they are. Currently making these for check for understanding questions for my patterns unit

I think feedback that I have given in the past that is unclear where they are and where they are going consisted of a comment or number grade that didn’t really tell students both where they were with their learning and where to go

I think I have a handle on toolkit 1,2 and most of 3 (with daily tweaks) working on 4 transferring collective into individual knowing and doing. Our region is taking a deep dive on #thinkingclassroom, interested to learn alongside!

I looked at Properties of Magic Squares, Ways to construct magic squares - Pheru's, De La Hire's and Durer's method and properties of antimagic squares
