Those in favour of extending Sunday Trading rules point to a '3.2% sales increase' during 2012 when shops opened longer during the Olympics, but provide no source.

The truth is, according to the ONS, Y-o-Y sales growth was weaker in summer 2012 than both 2011 and 2013.
