Living with rheumatoid arthritis. Passionate about effective patient engagement through patient information, social media, communication and user involvement
"The condition caused me a lot of pain and almost total immobility for a few years, but I think the anxiety came from seeing the effect on my family."
GRC's @Neil_Betteridge talks to #ThePioneeringPatientPodcast about his #remission journey: https://t.co/9uiLbzViIU
"You have a right to access the best possible treatment in order to get the best possible outcome. And other people, like health care professionals and policymakers, have a duty to make that happen more often for more people."

AiArthritis does a great job speaking up for people living with autoimmune inflammatory arthritis conditions. So it was good to talk to Leila about what remission can mean, and how the Global Remission Coalition is aiming to support more and more patients to pursue remission.
Good to offer an example from @globalafpa of the power of People With Lived Experience in practice on the @ncdalliance 'Walk the Talk' webinar today.
So much impact is possible when people with NCDs are empowered to speak up on policy issues

I’d be very grateful if you could all sign and share this petition - mobility issues affect so many people. We need Kensington Olympia Station to have a lift. Thank you!

Clearly people living with hip conditions or hip pain won’t be well represented at this conference seeing as the local public transport hub isn’t accessible to disabled people or people with limited mobility. Come on @BritishHip , pls help to lobby @TfLAccess@TfL
We’re not asking for the world. Just that people with a chronic inflammatory condition are supported to get the best possible outcome, ideally remission.
We need evidence based policy to ensure better lives for all. For people with inflammatory rheumatic conditions like #lupus#RA#PsA & #axSpA there’s good evidence as to the problems they face and the solutions that can help. So why don’t policymakers act on what works? Read more

#DYK? Remission is not a medical term, it means getting your life back!
Yesterday, GAfPA and the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health hosted a Value of Remission Roundtable alongside the 78th World Health Assembly. Patient advocates hailed to Geneva from across the globe to share their lived experiences and discuss the importance and the benefits of pursuing remission in chronic inflammatory diseases.
The event was also the launch of the Global Remission Coalition. With 35 member organizations from 5 continents, the GRC seeks to ensure that health care systems prioritize the pursuit of #remission, meaning patients can live signs and symptoms free of their chronic inflammatory condition.
