Mbambazi Primary School in the Zambezi Region received school uniforms and essentials from businesswoman Lisa Matomola and 32 partners.

In a speech read on her behalf, Matomola described the uniform as more than clothing, a symbol of equality that helps learners focus on studies.

Mbambazi Primary School principal Obert Simasiku highlighted the financial challenges faced by parents who had been laid off during the COVID pandemic. He noted that they received donations sufficient for 75 learners, which means that now all the students at the school are equipped with school uniforms.

Top-performing learner Tumelo Sanadwa thanked the donors, pledging to excel in her studies.

Community members in the Zambezi Region have taken to the streets in a peaceful demonstration against the United Democratic Party (UDP), a secessionist group banned in 2007.

The group is calling on the government to take action against the UDP.

The community is joined by representatives from all four traditional authorities: Masubia Traditional Authority, Mafwe Traditional Authority, Mashi Traditional Authority, and Mayeyi Traditional Authority. 

They handed in a petition to Zambezi Regional Governor Dorothy Kabula.
