NTA GISOBANURO NA KIMWE OLIVIER YARI GUTANGA NGO VERDICT IHINDUKE
Boss we yagiye kubibaza afite amakuru n’ubusesenguzi birenze ibyo ababiri barebwaga n’ibibazo bari bafite!
Ni yo mpamvu buri intervention yakorwaga to justify the minister’s actions yabihuhuraga, whether from Nduhungirehe cyangwa Rudatsimburwa. Oswakim we yaserebetse hagati arikomereza, injury-free, ataguye, adafashwe 😂.
Ntabwo PK yari arimo kuburanisha abantu babiri. Yashakaga kwereka umwe ibyo atagombaga gukora. Uwo maze yatinze kubimenya!
Scovia ntabwo ari umukozi wa Perezida. Minister of Foreign Affairs is. Mu gihe imyitwarire ye Umukuru w’Igihugu atayikunze, that’s it. He’s had sufficient time to reflect and conclude it was not right.
Nduhungirehe we cya gihe yumvaga ari mu kazi ko kwiyama umuvangira akazi muri audience Nyarwanda, ateza urujijo ku byo yari yasobanuye.
Gusa kujomba mo ko igifaransa cya Mama Urwagasabo ari nkene byafatwa nk’inkyuro idakenewe, mu mwanya wo gusobanura ibyo yumvaga abanyamakuru bagoretse. Abanyamakuru ni abo kubahirwa akazi bakora. Si ngombwa ko ugashima!
Igihe cyose ukoresheje imvugo umuyobozi wawe atakoresha, kubibazwa ni hafi aho. Nti bivuze ko wari ugamije inabi, oya. N’uyu munsi wabonaga atarabyumva. He felt deep seated good faith within him, which I completely understand. In the end it was not enough. Because the boss’s way of interpretation is at a much higher level.
And that’s entirely normal and expected. I’m sure wherever the minister is now is relaxed. He’s better off knowing it was not perceived well by his boss. That way the risk of repeat is either gone or greatly reduced.
Murakoze kunyumva.
Umusesenguzi wabyigize - IK 😊

We need to admit something here that nobody is talking about: Early Stage VC in Africa is broken & Africans aren't taking full control of it.
Let's be very practical. African startups are some of the most heavily scrutinized startups in the world. In a market where access to data is already difficult, a lot of deals have died at the DD stage, and I really would want to see founders who claim this part was an absolute breeze. There are many reasons why this is the case from geography to race. If you aren't in Nigeria, Kenya, SA, Ghana, Egypt, good luck my friend, nobody thinks you even have a market worth pursuing.
The truth is Western VCs will take a higher risk on an African startup than an African VC at early stage & this creates a huge problem. The noise & triumphant responses we are seeing here are merely temporary. Once interest rates are down again & the bull cycle is in full swing, founders are simply going to raise again from US VCs at high valuations. This creates a vicious cycle where homegrown VCs view this as validation & follow in on the FOMO until the cycle comes back to this point.
Perspective is also key. The total amount of funding that comes to Africa is absolutely miniscule compared to other regions. To Africans, this failure seems absolutely gargantuan, but if you zoom out, FTX makes Dash look like a kindergarten level of failure. I doubt many funds in the Western hemisphere will write off African startups in general as a result of this. We are just too poor to realize a high roller can lose an equivalent of a family's generational fortune in a casino & come back tomorrow.
I've had many interactions with African VCs who ask if we've been through YC or Techstars. I immediately know the conversation isn't going anywhere when they bring this up. Why should it take external validation in order for you to decide on a startup in YOUR home ground?
Having grown up in Zimbabwe's hyperinflationary environment, I developed an intuition to bs numbers. If someone tells me they are doing $1bn in volume, I almost can be certain its bs. Last year I met a US VC in Singapore who was heavily invested in FTX, when I raised my concerns to him, he immediately reprimanded me & wrote me off. A few weeks later... We all know how it went.
A few months back I met a Kenyan fintech founder who went through YC & had raised more than $5m. His app barely had more than 1K downloads & the reviews were appalling, yet the African VCs there were acting like they just saw Jesus. I'm not a hater, but the dude was capping the whole time, why these very educated people entrusted with being stewards of capital were falling for it bewildered me, oh wait, it really didn't, YC!
The majority of people calling for more stringent DD here are either African VCs or founders who've failed to raise significant funds. Once funding conditions normalize, founders simply know where to get high-risk capital.
In a few years, all these folks will be piling at another YC funded African startup until this happens again.
"I was born here (Rwanda), I grew up in Uganda, my wife was born in Burundi, we met in Kenya and we are here. So, Africans that's who we are. We are brothers, we are sisters." #OneAfrica - President Kagame.
The Zaria Court project is being developed as part of Kigali Sports City and it is expected to create over 500 jobs in hospitality and tourism. The project is the first Zaria Court on the continent, and is centred around an urban hospitality hub. It repurposes the former RBC headquarters building in Remera, which will feature an 80-room boutique hotel, restaurants, a rooftop lounge, a gym, wellness spaces, co-working spaces and a podcast studio. At the heart of the site is a multi-purpose court, which will serve as a space for sporting events, festivals, performances, markets and other events.

i never imagined in my wildest dreams i could one day hike in the rainforest and be able to… look in the eyes of a Silverback gorilla and literally bow in his presence. And to know that we could have an experience like this and be able to share space with these noble giants,
