At 21, he got a degree in nuclear physics, but wasn't allowed to work in the industry due to weakened health. He found himself in the Soviet space programme
At 26, he sent Sputnik to space, a few weeks before he had his first child
At 32, he made the discovery of the Earth's plasmasphere
At 60, he learnt English because the iron curtain had fallen and he could travel to the international space conferences. He needed to write and present in English
At 70, he would fight me for the dial-up internet as I wanted to chat to online friends, while he needed to send some work emails from home
At 85, he visited me in London and went to the British Museum five days in a row. One of the days we were having afternoon tea, and he exclaimed: "I'm so lucky! Had I not lived to this age, I would not have seen Amenkhotep III statue and had these wonderful scones at the Ritz"
At 90, he was the only person in my family who said I must absolutely take the opportunity to work in crypto
At 94, he still was still co-authoring scientific papers. And this hasn't stopped yet

دا مدرس لقوه ميت في شقته بقاله يومين، والناس اللي كانوا بيصلوا معاه في الجامع هما اللي اكتشفوا غيابه لما قلقوا عليه وكلموه كتير ومردش، ولما راحوا لحد عنده وخبطوا ومحدش فتح، اتصلوا بالنجدة اللي جت وفتحت الشقة وكانت الصدمة.. لقوه فارق الحياة وهو ماسك في إيده مسبحته، وكأنه كان في معية ربنا سبحانه وتعالى وقت ما روحه طلعت.
​الراجل ده كان مدرس محترم وعايش لوحده، سيرته وسط طلبته زي الفل، معروف بجدعنته وأخلاقه اللي مفيش زيها. وقبل ما يتوفى بفترة قصيرة، وقبل امتحانات آخر السنة بشهر، أخد قرار إنساني عظيم لما قال لطلبته إن الشهر ده مراجعة مجانية "لله"، مش بس للطلبة بتوعه، ده لأي حد ظروف أهله المادية صعبة ومش قادر ياخد دروس، وكان بيحاول يخفف عن الناس في وقت هم محتاجين فيه لكل جنيه، من غير ما ينتظر أي مقابل.
​الراجل ده عاش ومات وهو بيعمل خير، ومات وحيد في الدنيا بس أكيد مش وحيد عند ربنا. وعشان الراجل ده كان "جدع" مع الكل وكان بييسر على الناس في أيام صعبة، فأقل واجب علينا دلوقتي نطلق حملة دعوات كبيرة تليق بقلبه الطيب.
​اللهم اغفر له وارحمه، وأسكنه فسيح جناتك، واجعل كل حرف علمه لطلابه نورًا له في قبره، وعوض صبره ووحدته في الدنيا برحمة واسعة ورفقة طيبة في الآخرة. اللهم اجعل قبره روضة من رياض الجنة، وثبته عند السؤال، واجعل ذكره دائمًا بيننا بالخير، وارفع درجاته في عليين.
