At the margins of the G-20 Summit presently underway in Johannesburg, South Africa, I had the distinct honour of participating in the Investment Breakfast Dialogue convened by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa, South Africa Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with MTN. The gathering brought together senior government officials from both Nigeria and South Africa alongside influential actors within the South African private sector. It offered a timely and invaluable platform through which to illuminate Kaduna State’s emergence as Nigeria’s most competitive, responsive, and investment-ready destination.

In my remarks, I underscored four priority sectors where Kaduna possesses exceptional comparative advantage and vast, yet-untapped potential: Agriculture, Transport, Solid Minerals, and Renewable Energy. I highlighted our pioneering role as the first state to establish both a Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ) and the Africa Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC); initiatives that have already catalysed substantial investor interest.

I also drew attention to our integrated Transport Policy, the rollout of CNG-powered buses, and the ambitious development of a light-rail system, Bus Rapid Transit corridors, and road expansions designed to transform mobility across the state. Furthermore, I emphasized Kaduna’s wealth of mineral assets and our determined pursuit of clean, dependable, and decentralised energy solutions, particularly for underserved communities.

The enthusiastic response from investors reaffirmed the promise of Kaduna’s reform trajectory. I reiterated my administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening an enabling business environment anchored on transparency, regulatory clarity, and economic sustainability. Our state continues to set the national benchmark in ease of doing business.

I also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the bold reforms that have markedly enhanced Nigeria’s investment landscape. His support for subnational autonomy in securing investment has empowered states like Kaduna to cultivate strategic international partnerships. Kaduna stands fully prepared to welcome investors and collaborators dedicated to shared growth and prosperity.

Stakeholders Commit to Maintaining Peaceful Coexistence in Kagarko

Stakeholders in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the prevailing peace and unity in the area, dismissing recent social media reports suggesting unrest in the community.

The resolution was made during an expanded security meeting held at the Kagarko Local Government Secretariat, where traditional rulers, community leaders, youth representatives, women groups, and herders pledged to uphold peaceful coexistence.

Speaking at the meeting, a community leader, Mrs. Charity Dangana expressed concern over misleading reports alleging a crisis in the area. She mentioned that the women had previously visited the Traditional Ruler of Koro Chiefdom, Dr. Yohannan Akoito, to express concerns about isolated cases of nighttime grazing by herdsmen, which she described as unusual in the area. According to her, the Royal Father assured them that the issue would be promptly addressed through relevant authorities, adding that everyone returned home peacefully.

“I was shocked to see social media reports claiming that Kagarko was in crisis. That is not true. We are peaceful people, and as the women’s leader, I want to state clearly that our local government is peaceful and united,” she said.

A youth leader from Kabara District, John Musa, also dismissed the reports, attributing them to mischief-makers attempting to create tension. “We only met the Royal Father to discuss some unusual developments, but some people used it as an excuse to spread false information,” he explained.

Similarly, a representative of the Fulani herdsmen, Ardo Usman Abdullahi, apologized for the damage caused by a few individuals who grazed their cattle at night. He noted that the act was against the herders’ norm and assured that those responsible would be sanctioned.

The Chairman of Kagarko Local Government Council, Hon. Muhuyideen A. Umar lauded the continuous cooperation among farmers, herders, and residents, which he said was made possible by Governor Uba Sani’s sustained investment in peacebuilding, dialogue, and community security initiatives. He urged residents to remain vigilant and united against attempts to disrupt the peace the area has long enjoyed.

Also speaking, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, represented by his Special Adviser, Musa Likita, called on the people of Kagarko and Southern Kaduna to maintain collaboration with security agencies. He cautioned them against allowing selfish individuals to instigate division within their communities. Likita highlighted some ongoing federal development projects benefiting the area, including the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and the Defence Farm at Gurara Dam, noting that such initiatives were possible due to the prevailing peace in the region.

At the end of the meeting, the stakeholders resolved to sustain the existing peace and unity in Kagarko, assuring that the area remains calm and safe for all residents.

KAGARKO LG CONVENES EXPANDED SECURITY MEETING TO STRENGTHEN LOCAL SAFETY MEASURES

Today, the Kagarko Local Government Council, under the leadership of @TurakiJnr, convened an expanded security meeting at the Council Secretariat. The meeting had in attendance the Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Barr. Magaji H. Danjuma; His Highness, the Ere Koro; the Chief of Danta; representatives of security agencies; leaders of Miyetti Allah; and leaders of Farmers/Herders, representatives of women farmers from Koro land among others.

In his remarks, the chairman commended the dedication of security personnel and other stakeholders in maintaining law and order and reassured them of the council’s continued support. He also appreciated the contributions of residents toward enhancing security in the LG

Discussions at the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration, improving vigilance, and enhancing rapid response mechanisms to protect lives and property in the LG. It was resolved that unity and tolerance remain essential for peaceful coexistence. Also, farmers and herders were urged to respect official boundaries, as trespassing would not only be condoned but sanctioned.
Residents were enjoined to remain law-abiding and report any security breach to the relevant authorities.

NIGERIA AT 65: “TOGETHER, WE ARE OVERCOMING, TOGETHER WE ARE RISING”

My dear people of Kaduna State,

Today, Nigeria marks 65 years of independence; a significant milestone in the journey of a nation that has weathered many storms, yet continues to stand tall, proud, and unbroken. This anniversary is both a celebration and a call to reflection: a celebration of our collective resilience, and a moment to honour the sacrifices and vision of our founding fathers, who won for us the freedom we now enjoy.

Their legacy was not forged in ease, but in unity, faith, and an unwavering belief in the greatness of Nigeria. It is a legacy that inspires us to continue building a nation where peace, justice, and opportunity prevail. We must not merely commemorate independence: we must make it meaningful for every Nigerian.

Our path as a nation has been defined by resilience. Through challenges; political, economic, and social. Nigerians have demonstrated an extraordinary capacity to endure and hope. The strength of our people, especially here in Kaduna State, continues to be the bedrock of our shared progress.

This is why, on this historic day, I extend a sincere call to all of us: let us work together, across our communities, faiths, and backgrounds; to confront our challenges and unlock our collective potential. It is in unity that we will continue to give life to the dream of a peaceful, just, and prosperous Nigeria.

Here in Kaduna State, we are translating vision into action. Our administration is pursuing inclusive development and renewal through strategic and people-centred investmentsespecially in the following areas:

• Infrastructure and Economic Connectivity: We have prioritised infrastructure as the engine of development. To date, we have launched 85 urban and rural road projects, covering 785 kilometres across the state. Nearly half of these are completed, facilitating trade, reducing travel time, and improving access to markets for farmers and entrepreneurs alike. We are rebuilding urban roads, bridges, and essential public utilities to stimulate investment and elevate living conditions.

• Rural Transformation and Agricultural Revival: Our Rural Revitalisation Agenda is reawakening the economic potential of previously marginalised communities. With the reopening of key markets such as the Birnin Gwari Livestock Market and the Kidandan Market in Giwa, we are seeing a resurgence of local commerce and a renewed sense of community confidence. More than 500,000 hectares of abandoned farmland have been reclaimed, equipping our farmers to produce more while enhancing food security across the state.

• Human Capital Development: Education and health are not luxuries — they are the pillars of our future. We are executing a comprehensive reform of our educational system to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality learning. This includes infrastructure upgrades, teacher training, and the integration of digital tools. Through the Reaching Out-of-School Children Project, we have successfully returned over 10,728 children to the classroom. Moreover, we have reopened 535 schools previously shut due to insecurity, reaffirming our belief that education is a right, not a privilege.

In healthcare, we have turned promises into action. We have upgraded 255 Primary Health Care Centres across the state, bringing vital services closer to rural communities. These efforts are supported by our investments in three world-class vocational institutes, which are empowering our youth and women with marketable skills to thrive in an evolving economy.

KAGARKO LOCAL GOVERNMENT PRESENTS 2026 BUDGET PROPOSAL

The Executive Chairman of Kagarko Local Government Council, Hon. Muhuyideen A. Umar, has presented the Proposed 2026 Budget to the Estimates Committee at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. He was accompanied by members of the Council’s management team.

The presentation session, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, created room for useful discussions and guidance on the budget process.

The 2026 Budget Proposal focuses on continuing rural transformation and promoting inclusive development, in line with the policies and vision of His Excellency, Senator @ubasanius, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.
