Mr. Tayebwa needs to sir Dr. Baryomunsi down and lecture him very well on issues of internship allowance. Saying that you will only facilitate "formerly government sponsored students" for internship is something not well thought of
@nbstv@JoelSsenyonyi Well said sir... There is a lot of money in the pool that can be utilised to pay medical Interns but prioritization is the problem. This government has never valued health for it's people that's y it can afford to hand them to people whose welfare isn't assured.
@DailyMonitor Hon. Minister was a very wise lady in the eyes of many Ugandans until she decided to comment on this issue.. I am really intrigued by her reasoning and take on this issue
Moral lesson.
Let's learn to keep silent sometimes when we have nothing important to tell the world.
@Parliament_Ug@Thomas_Tayebwa Mr. Speaker shouldn't be concerned about what interns will do after training. It's not only government that employs medics. There are alot of opportunities in private sector which these medics can explore if only given a chance to finish their internship
@Parliament_Ug@Thomas_Tayebwa The issue of sustainability is not the question here. What's most important is for the interns to finish their training and get licences to practice. Not every medical student is planning to work for government after training.
"To inform you in advance, without resolving the issue of interns, don't expect any support from @Parliament_Ug. We are very resolved on the issue of interns because we know their contribution to the health sector. We are committed to helping and supporting any efforts towards paying these interns; both payment of arrears as well as the current budget [for their deployment], because those that have not been paid and we owe them money are now offering service, and nonpayment will affect them"- Chairperson, Public Accounts Committee (PAC)- Central, Mr Medard Ssegona to @MinofHealthUG PS, @DianaAtwine .

Hello @mtnug & @Airtel_Ug, please note that by the time someone call 100, they want to talk to a Customer Care Adviser not listen to those unhelpful instructions. If you can, please give us another number for direct calls to advisers to save our time...
