I made a play and it won @FaberBooks New Play Award! After becoming a mum and losing my mum, my writing changed, it fragmented, I thought I'd lost 'it' that spark, but it had just gone deeper, and @estherichardson nurtured it. I made this fever dream keening for my mum, Bridget.

@LNER That’s the second train journey in as many months ruined by people drinking alcohol on the train. The 11am train from Darlington to Kings Cross. 2 hours with swearing and shouting and beer stink. No staff came to check tickets. £124!!! Stop alcohol on trains.
@amyacrepoet@BloomsburyBooks This is in my book basket by my bed. It’s scribbled all over. Pages folded down. I recommend it to all mothers. It helped me beyond reason to understand the detonation that was motherhood. It helped me to appreciate and accept the mothering I got. ❤️
@AdamJFarrer Sadly that's exactly what I was told! By my publicist! But I'm clearly over it. So very chuffed for you and it's an exceptional book! The local is universal
It’s a bit like breaking up with the guy who gaslights you only to get back together with the guy who always borrows money and never pays it back. #elections2024
My goodness, John Burnside was a writer. And a lovely man in person too, the one occasion I met him. This piece from a very old @LRB has stayed with me. https://t.co/oBEBU4GTib “Much of the time, the dead are with us…”
