That is what the Ethiopian Defence Force is facilitating. Get rid off TPLF oligarchs, This group has never worked for the interests of their people . They have been working as a proxy for Egypt and Isaias. Smuggling gold out of the region illegally when the people have no even tap water. Forced recruitment of the young and selling them as mercenaries to Sudan via Eritrea.
Martin Plaut’s apparent sympathy for the TPLF must not be confused with love for the people of Tigray. He doesn’t have love or sympathy to any people including the people of Tigray, as long as he is committed for the destruction of Ethiopia. His publication record repeatedly amplifies narratives portraying Ethiopia through the prism of Tigrayan “liberation,” federal oppression and even possible separation. In 2021, material on his site argued that a lasting separation of Tigray appeared likely; in 2023, he promoted Understanding Ethiopia’s Tigray War using language describing a state strategy designed to “crush Tigray”; and in 2026 he published a TPLF aide-mémoire accusing the federal government of a sustained campaign against the people of Tigray.
That record deserves scrutiny.
Tigray is not the TPLF, and supporting the political narrative of the TPLF is not the same as defending Tigrayans.
Anyone genuinely concerned about Tigray should defend Tigrayans’ right to peace, democratic choice and freedom from forced mobilization and political monopoly. Plaut’s own site has acknowledged forced recruitment by Tigrayan authorities and warned against treating any side as morally immune.
The people of Tigray do not need outsiders to reduce their future to the survival of one political organization or to permanent confrontation with the rest of Ethiopia. Love for Tigray cannot require hostility toward Ethiopia. Tigrayans and other Ethiopians deserve the same freedom, security and justice.
So the question for Martin Plaut is simple: Are you defending the freedom of Tigrayan citizens—or repeatedly amplifying a political project carried out in their name?
But, it must be clear that TPLF and Martin Plaut have the same mission and the same master.
@martinplaut You are among Ethiopians enemy. How the so called notable journalist or author always mention and work towards distablizing a country? Shame on you.
#Ethiopia is set to seek an indicative $13.4 billion in World Bank IDA financing over the next decade under a new Country Partnership Framework. https://t.co/aX16vy3ssf
Developments in Sudan are once again proving the futility of the efforts by the warring sides to bring about a conclusive military victory against one another. Despite General Burhan’s much touted military gains against the RSF the last few weeks, the RSF on its part is now turning the tide against Port Sudan with its latest recapture of Kurmuk and Qaisen in Blue Nile State.
What will unfold tomorrow and the day after is anybody’s guess. Towns and garrisons will certainly be shifting hands every other week, depending on a number of variables. But there is one constant: the misery of the people of Sudan gets worse by the day. More testerone is not the solution: both sides should come to terms with the fact that talking, not shooting, is the only game in town. This was our message to General Burhan last time we paid him a visit in Port Sudan. No amount of external support from state or non-state actors is going to make much of a difference. The international community needs to get its acts together to help the generous people of Sudan regain the peace they so richly deserve.

When I saw this, I thought it was a cruel joke: Eritrea elected to UN Human Rights Council's "Social Forum" This is like putting foxes into the chicken coop to protect the flock! Anyone surprised more and more UN institutions have no credibility? Pathetic!
Honored to be on Board of @C4ADS, which identified 160 of 443 Cameroon registered ships were associated with sanctioned or high-risk networks. Cam govt did act: stopping new registrations, auditing registry, and delisting 39 fraudulent "false flag" ships.
