@Frances_Coppola@BrendanAnd21962 That was after you had been rude and dismissive but before you took the exact page I screenshotted and absorbed it into your thread.
@Frances_Coppola@BrendanAnd21962 Yes I think that is a reasonable course of action. Next time maybe read the report itself before telling someone the report does not say something when it says exactly that…
@Frances_Coppola@BrendanAnd21962 I am just going to accept that you will remain unapologetic for your dismissive and rude demand for me to read a report I already had read (which said exactly what I said it did).
@Frances_Coppola@BrendanAnd21962 I said that I took you at your word (see 2 tweets back) I was just surprised to then see you responding to a reply to the same thread you had told me you were too busy working to reply to… I presume you can see the inherent contradiction in that claim?
@Frances_Coppola@BrendanAnd21962 I took you at your word, and continue to do so, but that does not negate the fact that I took issue with your dismissive tone, about a report I had read, and which said exactly what I said it did.
@BornMancunian We are talking across purposes and you are not engaging with the actual example I gave so not sure we are going to progress anywhere on this.
Worth noting that exports from the UK as a result of a company choosing it as the European hub of operations are not typically value add (almost by definition).
No surprise that UK exports of clothing and footwear to the EU would decline due to trade barriers. Given greater barriers than neighbours, GB not an attractive European base (Northern Ireland - a different story potentially) https://t.co/qlJ3Fv4kqn
@Frances_Coppola Sorry so, to be clear, you now agree with the claim around 20 year olds being more likely to be off sick than 40 year olds which you previously told me was not the case?
@GCarty80 @Frances_Coppola According to the latest research… most of it though it is hard to work out given the lack of a Control Group (for the obvious ethical reasons).
@Frances_Coppola@BrendanAnd21962 I just think it is rude to dismissively say 'you have not read the report it does not say that' and then when I screenshot the bit of the report which explicitly disagrees with you that, you then stop replying but hey that is just me.
@richard_dubourg@DavidHenigUK Yes but that is already added to the product before it is shipped to the UK to be re-exported. The only change to the product between arriving and leaving the UK, in the example I gave, is shipping and handling. Whilst those eat into end profit the value added remains.
@richard_dubourg@DavidHenigUK Okay well it is standard industry practice to record shipping separately. You are confusing profit and value add which are not the same thing (i.e. some of a trainers value is based purely on the brand premium). Check any export form and you will see.
If you’re cheering this, do not ever dare complain about (a) violence in politics or (b) the standard of people putting themselves forward to be politicians.
