@Ludvicus Because these games have their own proprietary engines dedicated to them that use baked lighting, which tend to look much nicer than widely outsourced engines like Unreal Engine.

That's why games like NFS 2015, MGS5, Infamous Second Son, Killzone etc. Look so good today

Someone went and BUILT an entire engine to make this game look as good as possible and play smoothly. Someone who knew how things worked HAD to go in there and make it work.

Most modern games are made by fucking amateurs who call Epic tech support when the character they modeled on Unreal 5 keeps clipping with the terrain.

In short for the past decade or so you've been playing the RPG maker version of videogames.
