They did it!
One of my most important and proudest duties as Secretary of the General Legal Council of the Republic of Sierra Leone is to administer the process of swearing in new lawyers.
Recently, we welcomed over 300 lawyers as pupil barristers. This commences 12 months of on-the-job training under the supervision of senior lawyers.
This moment marks their journey from mere law school graduates to becoming fully recognized professional lawyers.
As each new lawyer walked up to me with their credentials of eligibility for signing into the temporary register I thought back to my own swearing-in over 11 years ago.
It brought back many fond memories and made me proud of each of these lawyers who have worked so hard to get to this position.
Congratulations to you all and welcome to the profession!
