There are 50 Muslim-majority countries in the world, to advocate rights of Muslims. It is why there was so much global conversation on CAA, NRC and Nupur Sharma.

There are 158 Christian-majority countries in the world, to advocate rights of Christians. It is why Manipur and attacks on churches make it to global media.

However, there is only one Hindu-majority state in the world, that can stand for Hindu interests. Hindus are a global minority. India may have a billion plus population, but you still get only one vote in multi-lateral institutions.

Let me put it bluntly, the world simply doesn't care for what happens to Hindus in Pakistan. Just like it didn't care for the Yazidi genocide under the Islamic State. They couldn't be bothered about indigenous minorities in a third world country.

Does India care? It does. But the sobering truth is that India doesn't have the political might to internationalise this issue, nor does it have reach within global media and the NGO-ecosystem to capture eyeballs and pressurise.

The one place where India can move the needle, is CAA. Frame the rules, expand its scope. Let Islamists not have the last word on this. History isn't kind to spectators of genocide.
