There has been murder and arson of 11 Kuki villages since March and the lastest victim was reported death yesterday marking 15 deaths.
Out of the 14 hostages freed, two of them were admitted to hospital after showing severe PTSD symptoms.

Respected @News9Tweets Channel,
What is the main objective of inviting Lamjathang to your platform every time a new issue arises in Manipur? He does not represent the Meitei, Kuki, Naga, or Tangkhul communities. In our view, the current issues in Manipur have no direct connection to Lamjathang's Thadou perspective.
We respectfully request that you avoid inviting individuals whose relevance or representative role is unclear. Instead, consider including knowledgeable experts or impartial analysts, including those from outside the region, who can provide balanced and well-informed discussions.

Dear India,🇮🇳🙏
I would like to draw attention to a deeply disturbing trend currently unfolding across social media platforms regarding Manipur.
Over the past few days, numerous posts, graphics, edited images, and inflammatory captions have been circulated online by like-minded, hate-mongering Naga accounts from Manipur, alleging that Kukis fed HUMAN FLESH 🥩to hostages.
These are among the most shocking accusations one can make against any community. Yet, they are being deliberately and widely shared with zero evidence, verification, or regard for the real-world consequences.
What is even more concerning is the calculated effort by these accounts to sensationalize these baseless claims through the emotionally manipulative use of Al-generated imagery, speculative narratives, and graphic insinuations designed to provoke outrage.
This is not merely an online campaign for engagement or views; it is a deliberate attempt designed to permanently tarnish the reputation of the entire Kuki-Zo community of Manipur.
The most troubling aspect of this phenomenon is that the people spreading these false narratives know exactly what they are doing. They know that outrage spreads faster than facts. They know that shocking accusations attract attention, and that once a lie gains momentum, corrections rarely travel as far as the original falsehood.
They know that once a community is portrayed as barbaric, inhuman, or monstrous, it becomes much easier to normalize hatred, justify discrimination, and incite hostility against them.
History has repeatedly shown that dehumanization is often the first step toward persecution.
As a quick reminder, the Kuki-Zo community went through similar damaging experiences due to disinformation spread by Meiteis in May 2023. This included the widespread circulation of false claims alleging that 40 Meitei medical students had been raped and killed in Churachandpur using wrong imagery from other parts of the country. Those allegations spread rapidly online, inflamed public sentiment, and led to devastating consequences. As a result, hundreds of Kuki-Zo lives were lost in Imphal, communities were displaced, and deep wounds were inflicted that remain unhealed to this day.
That is precisely why misinformation and sensationalized allegations should concern everyone. Once rumors are allowed to replace facts and outrage replaces verification, the damage extends far beyond social media platforms, leaving lasting scars that remain long after the posts disappear.
In an age where a single post can reach thousands within minutes at the touch of a button, the responsibility to verify information before sharing it has never been more critical. Rumors, manipulated content, and unverified allegations must be approached with strict critical thinking.
Ask yourself this honestly..
Why should anyone or community be expected to endure such disturbing allegations, fueled merely by "AI representative images" without proof, while the rest of the world simply watches and scrolls past?

Leaders and CSOs who deliberately spread misinformation and fuel hatred every day must be held accountable under the law. The people and civil society need to come together and engage in dialogue, because there is no purely military solution to this crisis. Security forces cannot be expected to remain deployed indefinitely to contain the cycle of violence and tribal animosity being displayed by both sides. Ultimately, these communities will have to find a way to coexist and live in peace.
At around 5:00 AM this morning, Tangkhul NSCN IM attacked and burnt Kultuh, a Kuki village in Kamjong district.
They also killed two men: the Head Deacon & Youth Chairman of the village.
Proposed release of 14 Kuki hostages on 1st June stands cancelled: This clearly shows that some sections of the Manipur Naga public do not want peace and bear direct responsibility for holding 14 Kuki civilians hostage. While the 6 missing Nagas were allegedly abducted by unidentified gunmen, the Manipur Naga CSOs are directly involved in the kidnapping of 14 Kuki civilians. Government should take immediate action on all such not-so-civil societies like UNC, SDSA and Joint Council of ZeliangrongInpui. @Spearcorps@official_dgar@PMOIndia@HMOIndia

Lamka, 29 May 2026:
A report by Lenin Haokip, General Secretary of COPTAM-KH, challenges the narrative labeling the entire Kuki community as “Burma refugees,” calling it a distortion contradicted by official documents.
The report states that the Government of India never treated Kuki repatriates from Burma as foreigners. Parliamentary records from 1967 describe around 1,500 Kuki families returning from Burma as “Indian nationals,” “persons of Indian origin,” and “Indian repatriates” entitled to state protection and rehabilitation.
It argues that rehabilitation proves displacement, not foreign nationality. The same program also assisted Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Bengali, and Manipuri returnees from Burma, yet those communities were never branded as foreigners in their home states.
British records, the report adds, documented Kuki chiefs, villages, and political institutions across Manipur decades before independence, including during the Anglo-Kuki War of 1917-1919. It further notes that dozens of Kuki villages in Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati, Sadar Hills, and Tengnoupal were uprooted between 1948-1968, forcing families into Burma who later returned under Indian repatriation schemes.
The repatriation of certain Kuki families is “a chapter in Kuki history, not the origin of Kuki history.” The report concludes that using the 1967 repatriation to portray all Kukis as foreigners is a political narrative unsupported by parliamentary, administrative, and historical evidence.

Two contrasting videos. One at Namdilong, blocked the supplies meant for the Kukis, security could do nothing about it. The other at Shangkai forcefully dispersed by RAF.@PMOIndia@HMOIndia@LokBhavManipur
Manipur: Seize of Sugnu by whom? This is how criminal and dishonest Meiteis are. Three years ago, combined Meitei militants, Arambai Tenggol, UNLF, PLA, PREPAK and Manipur Police burned thousands of Kuki homes in Sugnu. Today it stands deserted except for Meitei Refugee settlers.
What happened in Shangkai today is deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. Seeing images and reports of women and men being injured during a security operation leaves me with more questions than answers. Security forces are deployed to protect civilians, not to instill fear among them. When ordinary villagers, especially women, are caught in such situations, it only widens the gap between the people and those entrusted with maintaining peace.
What makes this even more painful is that this is not an isolated incident. Over the past months, there have been repeated complaints and allegations of excessive force, intimidation, restrictions on civilian movement, raids, and actions that many communities perceive as unfair and disproportionate. Each such incident chips away at public trust and leaves lasting scars on already traumatized Kuki-Zo communities.
No citizen should have to live in fear of those meant to ensure their safety. The people of Shangkai deserve answers, justice, and accountability. Those who were injured deserve proper medical care and support. Above all, the truth must come out through an impartial and transparent inquiry.
Peace cannot be built through force alone. It requires trust, respect, restraint, and a genuine commitment to protecting the dignity and rights of every citizen.
Why's there partiality of security personnel in Shangkai and Kanglatongbi incidents?

The reported attack in #MongkotChepu is deeply concerning. Some local reports have mentioned the involvement of #NSCN (EF) in the incident.
What #Manipur needs now is stronger security, swift action and guaranteed safety for every citizen.

Residents of Taphou Kuki Village held a peaceful protest seeking the immediate and safe release of 14 villagers who have reportedly remained in captivity in Senapati district for nearly two weeks.
Villagers, including women, elderly residents and children, gathered wearing white clothing and held placards calling for the safe and unconditional release of those held captive. Prayers were also offered during the gathering.
Family members of the missing villagers expressed concern over their well-being and appealed to authorities to intensify efforts to secure their release.
