Before deploying more magufaaraverin, the @MaleCitymv must first approve and gazette the Aanmu Undhagulaa Behey Gavaidhu, giving them the legal authority they need to enforce the rules.

Without this regulation, their role will remain largely ineffective.

As things stand, it is unclear what powers magufaaraverin have, the scope of their duties, what conduct they can act against, or what constitutes an offence.

Case in point: where were they when a humongous tree was chopped down to a stump in Villimalé?

The regulation has been drafted and has sat awaiting council approval for far too long.

after months, we finally had our first ICOM hearing today. i was surprised to learn from info com ahid that MCC had sent an email prior to the session, citing both clauses (a) and (b) of Section 30 of the RTI Act, disclosing the following types of information would result in irrevocable damage.

(a) the ability of the government to manage the economy of the country in a beneficial manner;

(b) legitimate financial or commercial interest of a state office.

a complete reversal from their earlier position that the information would eventually be made public. makes no sense. this is about our public money, we have every right to know! it’s concerning that MCC is actively seeking to withhold this information. @adamazim @MekhaelMohamed @MaleCitymv

When he doesn’t get a favourable reply, he gets angry, starts using filthy language and threatens to take the matter to court. He then sends a verse from the Quran or a Hadith.

People like Shaan should not be allowed near MDP’s legal team or in any activity.
