Panel discussion on the role of Development Partners in the coordination of social protection programs & Interventions during the on going International Learning Exchange Study tour between Kenya & the Republic of Uganda @NSPS_Ke@SP_Kenya@UNICEFKenya@WFP_Kenya@ESPprogramme
The meeting at the @ILRI Campus was organised by the Centre for Research & Development in Drylands @CRDD_kenya & the ILRI/Jameel Observatory & Feinstein International Centre at Tufts University Boston. NDMA was represented by Marsabit County Drought Coordinator @BM_Mwachakure.
For instance, during the last drought, NDMA provided timely and reliable information through its robust early warning system. However, the meeting cited a disconnect between the early warning information provided and early action by actors, which needs to be urgently addressed.
Policy linkages are vital for effective early warning, anticipatory action, humanitarian response &resilience building in Horn of Africa drylands. @NDMA_Kenya participated in this dialogue, which explored linkages, collaboration &ways of addressing the policy-practice disconnect.
