This sentence by Jensen Huang hits hard:
“Greatness does not come out of intelligence, it comes from character. Character is not formed out of smart people, it is formed out of people who have suffered.”
A parent’s death changes something fundamental within you. Even when you become busy with your lives, and are unable to spend more time with them, you still live in that assurance that they’re there… their existence itself gives comfort. And when that disappears, life suddenly feels shaky & fragile. This realization of impermanence shakes the soul deeply.
People who don’t do pre wedding shoots have my full respect, this trend is peak cringe, two normal people, who have never acted a day in their life, are suddenly expected to perform romance for a camera, fake laughs, forced eye contact
Most couples look awkward, but everyone pretends it’s 'cute', It’s not, It’s uncomfortable to watch because it’s clearly staged, love doesn’t need direction like 'okay now hug, now laugh, ab ek dusre ke taraf dekho aur smile karo'
It’s also sold as 'memories', but most of these videos are uploaded once, liked & story share by relatives and forgotten forever, you spent serious money, energy and time just to copy the same poses everyone else is doing
Weddings are already expensive and stressful, adding another shoot just increases pressure, money waste and unnecessary expectations, Saying no to it is not being cheap or old fashioned, It’s choosing simplicity and dignity over cringe, Baaki jaisi marzi 🙏🙏
Media Briefing:
"Glad to announce a formal agreement between the Technology Development Board (TDB) and Visakhapatnam-based Industry partner "Ramuka Global Eco Work Private Limited" for commercial production of ECOFIX, a ready-to-use pothole repair mix. Fashioned on PPP model, out of a total cost of Rs 197 crore, Rs 95 crore will be borne by the Govt of India through TDB.
The new "Steel" slag–based technology is particularly recommended for difficult and hilly terrains, for sustainable road construction. Compared to conventional road construction methodologies, it is more durable, about 20 % cheaper, enables faster work pace with lesser timelines, is environmentally friendly, the work can be undertaken instantly, and lives up to the concept of 'Waste to Wealth' so often reiterated by PM @narendramodi.
Pilot projects were conducted at Surat in Gujarat and parts of the Northeast, including Arunachal Pradesh. Since then, Steel slag–based road repair solutions have been used to varying extents in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.
However, the application remains limited in the Himalayan States and UTs, and need to be accelerated through targeted outreach and training. Workshops planned in the Hill States/UTs beginning from Jammu & Kashmir next week".
My dad is no more.
People often told me to move abroad or to cities like Mumbai or Bengaluru for more money.
But I always wanted to stay with my parents in Delhi NCR.
I’m grateful I did.
Contd….
India’s biggest problem is not capital or talent. It’s attitude! There is a very strange pattern I’ve observed again and again. The moment someone tries to do something new, ambitious, or uncomfortable, the first reaction is not curiosity or support. It’s dismissal.
‘This won’t work’
’Stick to what you know’
‘Yeh India hai, yeh nahi chalega’
Look at what’s happening with Deepinder Goyal, he built Zomato $30 billion company. Made real money, created massive employment, took execution risk when most people were busy giving opinions from the sidelines
Now he wants to build something different. Deep tech. Aerospace. A temple project. Things that are not obvious, not linear, not guaranteed.
And what does the internet do? - why are you doing this, stick to food delivery, this is not your forte etc. as if experimentation is a crime! (Some AIIMS doctor giving gyaan just to prove Deepi wrong, a typical case of ego instead of giving feedback or asking how to make it better) That’s why if anyone criticises without proposing a solution, don’t listen to them at all. Mostly useless.
In any mature ecosystem, the reaction would be simple - He’s earned the right to try. If it works, great. If it fails, fine. That’s how innovation actually happens.
Nobody invents anything in one shot - Not electricity, not cars, not rockets, not companies! You try 10 things 9 fail. One changes everything. India says it wants innovation, but emotionally it punishes anyone who attempts it.
The same mindset shows up even more brutally in politics - Whenever an educated, teacher, scientist, administrator, or reformer tries to enter politics, you pre-decide their failure before even voting.
‘Yeh nahi chalenge’
‘Padhe likhe log yahan nahi jeette’
‘Yeh vote nahi laa paayega’
Think about how insane that is- You complain about corruption, incompetence, about governance! Then you proudly vote for the same corrupt, uneducated politicians you claim to hate. This isn’t bad leadership. This is bad citizenship.
And then people act surprised when nothing changes - You cannot keep rejecting good inputs and expect good output.
At the core, this is a pull-down culture - we are far more comfortable watching from the paan shop, the comment section, or the Twitter timeline than actually backing someone who’s trying.
We admire success only after it’s inevitable. Before that, we actively sabotage it. And then we wonder why India produces service companies faster than it produces original breakthroughs.
This is not a lack of intelligence problem. It’s a courage problem! Until we learn to let people try, fail, pivot, and try again without ridicule, we’ll keep recycling the same leaders, the same ideas, and the same complaints.
Most Important part of the post: In India, if you try to build something new, a massive chunk of your energy doesn’t go into product or execution. It goes into damage control.
Managing outrage, bad PR, half-baked media narratives, people who don’t understand the problem but are very confident in their opinions etc..Before you even get to iteration one, you’re already firefighting.
In healthier ecosystems, founders spend their early years obsessing over the product. In India, many founders first have to learn crisis management, public relations, and social media self-defence.
That creates a brutal filter - Only people with exceptionally thick skin survive long enough to build anything meaningful. Not necessarily the most talented or the most original.
Now some people will say why do founders need to manage all this noise at all? Why not just ignore it and build? That sounds logical in theory. It doesn’t work in reality. Because to build anything meaningful, it requires a good amount of capital, and a false narrative impacts fundraising, partnerships, hiring, and trust.
That’s why innovation here doesn’t fail due to lack of talent. It fails because the cost of trying is made unnecessarily high.

I’ve noticed a consistent pattern over the years.
People who are average in most respects - looks, intelligence, raw talent - but who are humble, self-aware, and genuinely pleasant tend to do surprisingly well in life. Others want to work with them. People invest time in them, teach them what they don’t know, and are forgiving when they make mistakes. An average person with a good temperament can move comfortably among truly exceptional people.
Then there’s the other group: the “above average.” Many of them quietly (or loudly) convince themselves they’re top-tier - intellectually, professionally, socially. In reality, they’re just a notch above the mean. That small advantage often breeds the worst traits: arrogance, entitlement, condescension, ego.
They suffer in the long run because society tolerates the eccentricities of real outliers - but it does not tolerate the arrogance of people who merely think they are one. They assume their perceived superiority entitles them to a bad personality. It doesn’t.
Competence opens doors. Character keeps them open.
Be humble. Be someone others want around. Everything else compounds from there. Ignore this rule, and sooner or later someone will correct your self-image for you - brutally, publicly, and painfully.
Supreme Court orders compassion for stray dogs with sterilization and vaccination—but animal ‘lovers’ still okay with chicken on their plate. Hypocrisy or Hypocrisy? #straydog
Mr @SaketGokhale
Your appeal overlooks the fact that the Hon’ble Supreme Court, while passing directions regarding stray dogs in Delhi, has exercised its constitutional powers under Articles 32 & 142 to balance public safety with administrative responsibility.
The order is not “arbitrary” it is a judicial response to repeated failures by local authorities to curb rabies-related deaths and attacks, despite the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, and the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2001 & 2023 being in place.
The Court’s observations align with Article 21 rights not only of animals, but also of citizens, especially children and the elderly, who are at risk.
Judicial intervention became necessary after years of non-compliance by civic bodies and the rising number of fatalities.
Furthermore, the directions do not endorse “wanton cruelty” they call for removal and sheltering of aggressive stray dogs in a regulated manner, while still ensuring vaccination, sterilization, and possibility of adoption as per law.
This is in consonance with the ABC Rules and Section 11 of the PCA Act, which prohibit unnecessary pain but permit lawful seizure for public safety.
Thus, instead of perceiving the order as a step towards cruelty, it should be seen as a judicial enforcement mechanism for existing statutory obligations that municipal bodies have long neglected.
The larger Bench review you seek may still happen, but meanwhile, the order ensures immediate protection of human life while keeping the welfare of animals within the legal framework.
Dr. Vinod Karar deserves heartfelt congratulations for successfully leading projects in the areas of Head-Up Displays (HUD) and advanced avionics systems, whose outcomes continue to deliver impact thanks to his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication. @VinodKarar
