With this dream team, we deliver the 1st Pediatric Trauma Course in Brazil - the TRIK course @Royal_College. The 2nd course we'll be in Portuguese with Brazilian instructors! Thanks to all the partners. @facmedicinaufmg@KarenGripp@DrNatalieY Dr Ouellet, Dr. Poenaru @McGillGHP
These should actually be competencies in every training program. So happy to see that the @Royal_College Pediatrics residency team explicitly include them on their updated 2021 competencies document. For the others, you can start by incorporating locally. https://t.co/oHLDfeM7tk
@RUBraveEnough Seeing Dr. Lillemoe’s name brought me back to 1995 when he was chief of surgery at Hopkins and I was a third-year med student who had been sexually harassed by a surgery PGY1. I still remember how amazingly well the situation was handled. A true ally indeed.
Just learned a new phrase = “webside manner” in regard to virtual care by physicians. I wonder how well bedside manner translates into webside manner . . . I suspect quite well.
"The medical examiner’s office, however, concluded Floyd didn’t suffocate, but rather died of heart failure brought on by the incident." (CNN) This may come as a surprise to the ME, but everyone dies of heart failure. It's called cardiac arrest. Suffocation is the reason.
My daughter just asked me how make someone undead. Turns out she was asking about her iPad dragon game and didn’t really want an explanation of emergency resuscitation or how to define death. I now understand why my PhD father spent 30 minutes explaining a calculus answer to me.
I imagine all the closures and cancellations give people a sense of ominousness. But it's really an amazing act of social solidarity: We're sacrificing so we can give nurses, doctors and hospitals a fighting chance. Start from there and hopefully we can figure out the rest.
My daughter wanted to eat breakfast before opening her birthday presents this morning. An eight-year-old is better at delayed gratification than me. This waiting is killing me. I suppose that’s the joy of giving. :)
Not sure why, but every time I drive to work in a blizzard, I keep singing Paul Simon in my head . . . “Slip slidin’ away, you know the nearer your destination, the more you’re slip slidin’ away.” Glad to be here safely. :)
