@_TheMightyTank_ Well, one of the goals I saw from the article was to eventually have these reparation movements go nationwide. Hopefully, that becomes a success. #AuburnWorldHistory
“you have lost 53 [N]egroes in 16 months' and there is some 10 or 15 more that will die if there is not a change in management in a short time. Again, Douglas looked brutality in the face—a brutality that made him rich—and he did nothing." #AuburnWorldHistory
"RAUC hopes that the discovery of the University of Chicago’s ties to slavery will offer an opportunity to reimagine reparatory and transformative justice on a national scale." If one school leads the way and becomes successful, others will follow. #AuburnWorldHistory
Though its not the same thing, this text about Chicago University reminds me of the recent issue with military bases being named after confederates. In the same way that schools are asked to amend, do you think that the military bases should amend by renaming? #AuburnWorldHistory
"The turn to neoliberal politics occurred in the midst of a crisis in the 1970s, and the whole system has been a series of crises ever since. And of course, crises produce the conditions of future crises." #AuburnWorldHistory
What I understand from the article is that neoliberalism is a way to restrain the power of labor. So essentially, its policy-making that centers around restricting the market or corporate businesses. #AuburnWorldHistory
As humorous as the movie was, the Cold War era was filled with a lot of tension. People truly believed that any moment could have been their last with the prospect of nuclear war. #AuburnWorldHistory
“We have watered her(America's) vegetation with our tears. We have built her cities and laid the foundations of her materialism with the mortar of our blood and bones. We have fought in all wars, and die[d] courageously . . .” #AuburnWorldHistory
"We Want to Set the World On Fire": Although racial injustice was still a continuing battle at the time, joining the workforce and assisting in the Army Nurse Corps/Women Corps during WWII was a major leap forward for blacks to make progress in society. #AuburnWorldHistory
Dr. Quao's boxing analogy felt very appropriate for what she discussed. Small countries in Africa having to negotiate with larger, more developed countries around the world. The smaller countries in question are certainly at a disadvantage. #AuburnWorldHistory
Dr. Quao brought up an interesting point about the different currencies in the African continent. If the different countries agreed to use a single currency, it could help the trade situation, but I don't think that would solve all of the problems for trade. #AuburnWorldHistory
