Most successful institutions that were founded by people with great values, grounded in merit and built by hard work degrade as those founders leave, they are slowly replaced by people who have no idea what it takes to maintain its original success. The great institutions are then hollowed out and used by grifters as a mask they hide behind to pretend they have great values and merit until the institution falls because nobody is worthy of carrying it forward. Happens all the time, same with rich kids, they don’t see the hard work and suffering of their parents, inherit wealth and squander it whilst pretending to be a success, until there is no more wealth left, and the cycle continues over and over.
