He used a secret Gmail account to hide official communications from the American people. He destroyed and concealed federal records to evade FOIA. He worked to protect the grants that flowed into Wuhan and the narrative that COVID could not have come from the lab his agency funded.
This was not a clerical error. This was a deliberate cover-up while the country was locked down, censored, injected, and told to “trust the science.”
Careers were destroyed. Early treatments were suppressed. Children lost years of their childhoods. Millions suffered.
We stood on the steps of the Supreme Court in 2020 and told the truth. They censored us. They called us dangerous. They were the ones deleting the evidence.
One guilty plea is not enough. The house of cards is still standing as long as the man at the top remains untouched.

Translating the bioelectric code remains one of the core challenges to widespread biomedical translation of bioelectric interventions, as well as a better evolutionary understanding of how developmental ionic signaling evolved to become the basis of neural intelligence. To advance our understanding, it is crucial to develop model systems that allow simultaneous, quantitative study of diverse bioelectric parameters in living states, which must also be linked to cell- and tissue-level outcomes. Here, we apply quantitative Fluorescent Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) optical estimation of membrane potential (Vmemoe) to map the bioelectric dynamics of spreading Xenopus laevis neural crest explants (NCEs) over > 17 h. We identify a slow hours-scale bioelectric component and distinct faster minutes-scale and seconds-scale components. These dynamics often span multiple cells, consistent with roles in the collective behavior of NCEs. We then use information theory to show that minutes-scale NCE Vmemoe dynamics are largely distinct from calcium dynamics. Finally, we provide a survey of diverse bioelectric events revealing a deep complexity in collective bioelectric dynamics, likely involving tunneling nanotubes in their transmission, which suggests numerous avenues for further investigation. These combined data demonstrate FLIM as a powerful tool for observing subtle bioelectric signals at the large temporal and spatial scale needed for developmental biology studies.

When planaria get exposed to barium, their heads explode and fall off. But, remarkably, they quickly grow new heads that are barium-insensitive! How does it work? Out of all the possible targets in their genome, they regulate a small number of genes which enable the heads to live in the K+ channel blocker barium. In our past paper on this (https://t.co/2kiIKP6s0I), we found out which genes, but we had sequenced all the worms as a combined batch - we didn't know if each individual worm finds the same solution in transcriptional space, or different ones. How many solutions to the barium challenge are there? What would you guess - do they all find the same solution or each one walks a different path in transcriptional space, to resolve this stressor? In this new paper, we analyze individual worms:
Abstract: "Exposure to the potassium channel blocker barium chloride (BaCl₂) causes head degeneration in Dugesia japonica flatworms, followed by regeneration of BaCl₂-insensitive heads, offering a unique model for studying transcriptional resilience to novel stress. We performed RNA sequencing on individual planaria to investigate different transcriptional solutions to the BaCl₂ challenge, and how regeneration history and social environment shape transcriptomic responses to BaCl₂. We identified a robust transcriptional strategy and a potential sub-strategy for enabling BaCl₂-insensitive head formation. Moreover, we observed pronounced transcriptional differences between untreated worms regenerating from tail fission fragments (tail-regenerated), and untreated full-sized worms that did not fission during the experiment (intact controls), highlighting the lasting impact of regeneration history. Relative to controls, tail-regenerated worms upregulated neurodevelopmental and morphogenetic programs, while downregulating mitochondrial transport and stress-response pathways. Relative to intact controls, BaCl₂-exposed regenerates upregulated ion transport, metabolic, cell cycle, and inflammatory pathways, while downregulating neuronal signaling, ion homeostasis, morphogenesis, and tissue repair programs. Comparison of BaCl₂-exposed isolated and BaCl₂-exposed group-housed worms revealed minimal transcriptional divergence between social conditions. These findings underscore the complex interplay between regeneration, chemical stress, and social context in shaping gene expression."
