@LeeMartin_mx So true Lee! I spent so long trying (often failing) to pretend it doesn't happen to me. My work suffered and I suffered. Recently, I have been experimenting with planning my work and life around my cycle and its been transformative. My work and my health is better for it!
Moving forward, I'll openly address and include menstrual pain in the eligibility criteria for deadline extensions. By making menstruation more visible, we foster a more equitable and inclusive educational environment. #menstruationmatters#education
The surprise when you open your twitter to find out your email granting an extension has been seen over 3.5 million times, liked more than 90k times, and retweeted over 15k times! What shouldn't be a surprise, however, is the extension itself.

Menstruation is so often rendered invisible within education and organizational settings. We pretend we do not bleed to live up to a non-existent ideal. It is this invisibility that meant I would not have asked for an extension. I do not want that for my students.
