🚨 JUST IN: KRA has officially changed the deadlines for filing annual tax returns in Kenya.
Millions of Kenyans will now have different filing dates depending on their tax status.
📌 New deadlines:
• Nil Returns (no taxable income): By January 31
• Salaried employees (PAYE only): By April 30. Most returns will be pre-filled on iTax - simply verify and submit.
• Businesses & taxpayers with other income (side hustles, consultancy, rental income, etc.): June 30 remains the deadline.
This replaces the old system, where almost everyone filed by June 30.
Please read, save, and share so your family and friends don't miss the new deadlines and end up paying unnecessary penalties. Adios.
There is a guy on these streets who started quietly calling out poor county services in his neighborhood.
From uncollected garbage to filthy roadsides, sewage, lack of drainage...just basic things. A guy complaining about not having the bare minimum in his neighborhood.
He gradually started noticing that the problems in his neighborhood are present throughout his city. And this is the capital ciry. He eventually realised that the rot was multi-agency incompetence, and while focusing on county level incompetence, also started discussing the infuriating, immovable sloth of the authorities. Simple things. Potholes, dangerous curbs, poor city planning, dangerous buildings coming up, total annihilation of zoning laws, hooliganism on the roads, dangerous shacks on the road - these are things everyone should be inflamed about.
This gentleman has started a bit of a movement by inspiring others to focus on their local areas, calling out poor services and incompetence at the local level - definitely the spirit of devolution.
Lately, some bots have even started accusing him of being a blogger, on someone's payroll or a propagandist. HOW STUPID ARE WE? HOW STUPID ARE WE THAT DEMANDING BASIC SERVICES IS SEEN AS A POLITICAL AGENDA?
This gentleman in question, @Alfayaz11, is a professional, a businessman and an established name in his industry.
Personally, I see his posts as a form of civic service and a way to demand better from elected leaders and appointed ones.
His posts have inspired many to reject mediocrity.
This country doesn't have a funding problem - it has an incompetence problem.
A upright civilian like @Alfayaz11 demanding better does not make him a politician.
Kenya plans to sell anonymised, non-personal data from platforms like eCitizen to businesses, researchers, and NGOs.
The plan aims to raise revenue and improve government planning.
[Personal data like names and ID numbers will not be included].
We found evidence of construction going on inside the Nairobi National Park but @KWSKenya just confiscated our drone. Currently protests by lobby groups and environmentalists are going on over the construction.
I must make it clear that only the authorised government officials may act against violations of the law, including violation of our immigration laws.
No other person is allowed, for example, to confront someone in the street to demand proof of nationality.

Vantor satellite imagery obtained by Reuters shows the U.S. government 🇺🇸 is moving ahead rapidly with setting up a 50-bed facility at the Kenyan airbase 🇰🇪 in Nanyuki to quarantine U.S. citizens who have been exposed to Ebola.
So, collapse your emotions, good or bad about the 2 presidents. This is a masterclass in strategic communications by Cyril Ramaphosa. He doesn't mention Ruto or his decision to bend to the USA on Ebola. He doesn't criticize the decision but instead, expertly demonstrates a better strategy deployed by RSA. He doesn't need to say "We are concerned that Kenya blah blah blah." But with Ruto standing right there he gives case studies of South Africa's pan African response to Ebola - financial investment, sharing expertise and must importantly, protecting those on African soil from the pandemic. The opposite of what Kenya is doing. And he highlighted this contrast emphatically by focusing on what RSA is doing. Nice example for a strategic comms lecturer to use. How do you expose a disagreement without saying "You are wrong and I disapprove of your methods." Nice.
