“Why bother talking to ghosts if you don’t learn anything useful?” Sheriff Dallas Grainger glared at me over the dead body lying between us.
“I’ve been talking to you since I was seven years old and haven’t learned anything useful yet.”

Moldova, today you are victorious. Together, we’ve shown the strength of our unity, democracy, and commitment to a dignified future.
Thank you, dear Moldovans, at home and abroad. Walk with pride—you are freedom, hope, and resilience. I am proud to serve you all.
@HerringAli NC is requiring ID beginning with this election but in the past I’ve just walked in and provided my name and birthdate. They find me in a big book and highlight my name. That’s was it until now.
We just got water in Asheville, 19 days after Hurricane Helene. It’s brown and you can’t drink it yet, but once the impurities are flushed out it will be fine. The city has done an amazing job repairing catastrophic damage. Pipes 30-40 feet underground were destroyed.
@MHarrell42450@LACarsonStories I’m in the Triangle so no issues for us. The damage in our mountains is truly cataclysmic, though. I don’t think WNC will ever be the same.
@RedIsDead @keith_rosson Do you have Goodreads? If so, add him. I have a “not with a ten-foot pole” list on my Goodreads that contains writers who act like shitty humans. Keeps me from accidentally supporting bad behavior.
@MHarrell42450@joe_hill@StephenKing @keith_rosson Asshole behavior. I have a “not with a ten-foot pole” list on Goodreads and am happy to say you’re now on it.
We don’t mean to sound possessive, but let’s talk about how to make last names plural.
The plurals of last names are just like the plurals of most nouns. They typically get formed by adding -s.
Jill and Tim Smith→ the Smiths
the Clarence family→ the Clarences
@TBradleyNC@NC_Governor What’s your point? You didn’t say Cooper didn’t request troops. You said he didn’t AUTHORIZE them. He can’t. The image you posted says governors can request troops. Not authorize their deployment. There’s a difference. And again, authorizing troops is the president’s job.
@TBradleyNC@NC_Governor What an ignorant question. Cooper didn’t authorize the use of active military because he doesn’t have that authority. Only the president can do that.
@tom_shrub@cbouzy He wasn’t quite spot on. He predicted Dems would keep the House and that didn’t happen. But his track record is pretty good and I hope he’s right.
