@danfaggella It already existed! It's a philosophy term I recently learned.
And now I'm working on popularizing it. ๐
Isn't it so good?! Way more people should know about it.
I think egalitarianism is bad.
I'm a sufficientarian instead.
I want everybody to have enough, not be "equal".
If everybody in the world had enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle and there were still billionaires, that's a clear win.
Egalitarianism leads to good things, like trying to pull up the worse off.
But it also leads to bad things, like trying to pull down the well off.
Sufficientarianism gets the benefits of helping the worse off without succumbing to the instinct to chop down the tall poppies.
@gabriel1 I think you're typical mind fallacying
Many people like talking
Many people find being too direct painful
Many people would find your advice to cause pain and lose out on one of the great pleasures of life
@ManacasterBen I actually think using fostering as a way to adopt cats is strictly superior than going to a shelter and adopting right away.
You get to know the cat in its natural environment which is very different from how they're acting at the shelter
Do you know anybody working on homelessness on the West Coast? I'm doing research on it and I want to talk to people on the front lines instead of just reading papers about it.
I'll be doing street interviews of the homeless in SF directly, but I'd also love introductions to talk to people who work reguarly with them so people like:
- Street outreach workers
- Shelter staff
- Navigation center case managers
- Needle exchange / harm reduction staff
- Soup kitchen and meal program staff
- Addiction medicine specialists
- Psychiatric conservatorship workers
- Beat cops
- Probation/parole officers
(No need for them to be in SF, I can just do a call.)
Isn't it incredible?! Like, there probably were just literally was no songs about UV lithography before, let alone in the particular music taste you had.
You could be literally the guy who commissioned Mozart back in the day and not get this. Mozart would have taken ages and he had only one music style available to him.
Problem: It annoys me how most songs are about romantic love. Love is good and all, but there are so many things you could sing about.
Solution: I discovered AI music is insanely good now. So I've made a ton of songs about the things I care about at the moment. So here are a ton of songs about researching, writing, and PMSing wisely. (Link in comment)
Can you believe there weren't songs about looking for disconfirming evidence before? Or putting yourself in emotional quarantine when you're grouchy AF?
Anyways, your interests might differ, but seriously, I recommend trying it out. I'm only listening to custom made songs now. You can just make them exactly the music styles you like *and* the topics you want.
I use:
- Claude to figure out my tastes then write the lyrics. I simply show him my favorite songs and ask him to extract the general principles of my taste, then to write lyrics and style descriptions.
- Suno to make the actual music.
Thanks @suno btw!
I'm going through a little personal musical renaissance thanks to you. It feels like when I first "discovered" music as a teenager.
Personalized music is close to being a superstimulus.
