Gingerbread houses are OUT!!! Gingerbread fashion is IN!!!! The Fabulous World of Dior at Harrods is doing this AMAZING display of a gingerbread collection and it’s so beautiful
@SySTEMHabits Absolutely not. A person has to be open to learning to learn something. I think we are arguing semantics. What I’m saying is that all learning needs mediation—from a person, a book, a video. Conceptual learning is not going to happen if students are left to their own devices.
@cdr Did you figure it out completely by yourself? From a book? Help from a friend? “Direct instruction” doesn’t have to come from a “teacher” just something that helped you mediate your learning. All learning is mediated by something (book, created by a human) or someone.
@alfiekohn Poor wording choice. “Direct instruction” is how human beings learn. I get the algorithm criticism and agree, but good direct instruction, a teacher helping students and directing them towards what they need to learn is key. They don’t just “figure it out”.
1/🧵 Let’s talk Long COVID:
I’m grouping several important & interesting articles about the reality of #LongCOVID.
By studying brain fluid, viral persistence & MRIs, we’re building our understanding of the “how” & “why” of this devastating malady.
A train is coming, read on…
Pls @jjhorgan @KatrineConroy just....please act now. This should be illegal. I saw stumps of 1000 year old trees @SaveFairyCreek flagging tape on 2000 year old yellow cedars. It’s like destroying Pantheon or the Sistine Chapel to make a buck. Enough already. #oldgrowth#bcpoli
The UK variant is here. Cases are showing up in schools. I believe we need a variant recess, a transmission interrupter, or at least mass rapid testing to find out the extent in our schools. We are begging. PLEASE @JM_Whiteside , @adriandix@larsen_laurie2 WE NEED ACTION.
"Too often in our classrooms, Native stories are only presented from historical perspectives." This sends an inaccurate and harmful message. Which of these books about contemporary Indigenous characters would you recommend for educators and students?

@freespiritus@RobShaw_BC My understanding is that teaching jobs are tied to student bodies showing up at the beginning of the school year. So yes, if numbers are down because parents keep their kids home, jobs will be affected.
Here’s our story about what happened to #ElijahMcClain.
He’s walking home.
Listening to music.
Wearing a mask.
Man calls 911 saying Elijah looks sketchy.
Police respond.
They don’t observe.
They immediately stop him.
NO CRIME WAS REPORTED.
