@PolitlcsUK A pathetic, dishonest, callous mob that loves billionaires, planet killers, genocidal maniacs & tax dodgers but hates & scapegoats people who get serious illnesses & disabilities. PIP provides vital support for huge costs of disability. @reformparty_uk Reform UK are EVIL.
This’s Cuba right now under total blackout after seven months of fuel blockade—Doctors are manually operating ventilators in order to keep babies alive.
The United States is now blocking 7,000+ containers of medicine, food, and resources for water and energy from reaching Cuba. The US threatens to freeze assets of entities providing support to Cuba.
This is what the US embargo is intended to be. It is a form of collective punishment, a criminal act, and a blatant violation of international law. This violates Article 33 of Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits collective punishment. The US embargo cruelly cut off all fuel and humanitarian aid.
Given the dependence of health, food, and water systems on imported fossil fuels, the current oil scarcity has put the availability of essential services at risk nationwide—hurting ordinary people, endangering lives, systems are breaking down, further deepening the socio-economic crisis, and having an increasingly severe impact on the human rights.
It is strange how the world can cooperate to get oil through the Iranian blockade at the Strait of Hormuz, but still aren't able to get aid through the U.S. blockade on Cuba. International law is not optional that you invoke only when it suits you. Let's call it what it is: weaponized international law.
The U.S. sanctions against Cuba must be lifted immediately. This’s a crime against humanity, and no one is talking about it.
@delonperc As a child, using subtitles and scrolling through Teletext was a form of stimming for me. Even as an adult, I rely on written information to be communicated to me as much as possible as I struggle to retain verbal information.
Jason Arday is dead.
They spent weeks stripping him bare. The race realist who started the fire. The Telegraph. The Spectator. Every line of his thesis, every fundraising claim, every mile he said he ran, every threat he described... forensic, relentless, turned into sport. A Black working class autistic man who reached a Cambridge chair became their perfect scalp. “DEI darling.” “Fraud.” The glee was the point.
He resigned under the weight of it. Said the unrelenting scrutiny and personal attack had reached the limits of what any person should endure. Nine days later he was found unresponsive at home in Battersea. Unexpected. Not suspicious. Forty one years old.
This is how the right works. When someone from the estates, the wrong skin, the wrong neurotype climbs into their institutions, they bring the full apparatus. Every error is a national scandal. Every exaggeration is proof the whole project of equality is a lie.
Meanwhile their own misdemeanours and crimes get the soft treatment. Boris Johnson lied to Parliament about parties while the country locked down... process, delay, shrug. The PPE VIP lane handed billions to Tory donors and mates for kit that never worked while NHS staff went without. Michelle Mone and the rest still counting the money. Serial sexual misconduct and bullying by Tory MPs protected until the last possible second. Farage’s endless grifts and contradictions waved through by the same papers that demanded Arday’s head.
They don’t care about integrity. They care about hierarchy. Accountability is a weapon they point downward. The powerful stay protected. The climbers get destroyed.
Jason Arday faced the spotlight they never shine on their own. The rest of us saw it. We remember. The real scandal was never one academic’s record. It was the double standard that keeps the powerful safe while breaking anyone who challenges the order. That is the fight.
The truth is:
Suicide is not selfish.
What’s selfish is blaming the dead instead of asking why they felt death was their only escape.
The real selfishness is in ignoring their suffering while they were alive.
I am absolutely with them on this. Every single Bus should have AC, especially in the driver’s cubicle. Buses go up to 35-38 degrees in this heat and with drivers being responsible for passengers, it is very negligent that this hasn’t been fixed or even looked at whatsoever because their wellbeing is just as important as everyone else who uses this form of transportation.
Horrific scenes in Stourbridge.
As your home burns, remember the UK government met with fossil fuel lobbyists over 500 times during their first year in power
While we bin our BBQs, they’re being wined & dined by the arsonists.
Be furious.
WATER BILLS: Enough is enough.
Consumers cannot continually be treated as a blank cheque.
Yes, our water infrastructure desperately needs investment, but customers have already endured rising bills while witnessing leaks, sewage spills and years of underinvestment.
Why should consumers continually be expected to pay the price for failure?
I think these further increases are WRONG. Do you agree?
The UK is having a COBRA meeting on Climate Change this afternoon, here is what they should do.
1. Nationalise Water, building Reservoirs has to be number 1 priority to counter the devastating and now unavoidable effects of Climate Change.
2. Nationalise Energy, building renewable energy is how we limit Climate Change getting worse.
🚨 Britain has NO national food stockpile.
Finland 🇫🇮 holds strategic grain reserves capable of feeding its population for around 9 months.
Sweden 🇸🇪 is building emergency reserves of grain, seeds, fertiliser and food.
Switzerland 🇨🇭 requires strategic stocks.
Meanwhile Britain 🇬🇧 says it doesn’t need them because our food supply chains are robust.
WTF???
Our food self-sufficiency is falling. British harvests are being hammered by extreme weather. Europe is suffering crop failures too. Hormuz has exposed our dependence on imported fertiliser and global trade routes.
And Brexit has put additional barriers between Britain and its largest food suppliers.
Stockpiles alone aren’t the answer.
We need something much more fundamental: a national food production and resilience plan, maintaining domestic production, protecting farmers, storing water, securing fertiliser and other inputs, and deciding what strategic reserves Britain actually needs.
We prepare for war with weapons and energy. Why wouldn’t we prepare the food needed to survive one?
My friend Jonathan Fuller took this picture of ducks in a dried up pond on Wallasea Island, Essex.
It’s heartbreaking.
I will never ever forgive the media, politicians, the oil industry and the moronic fools on social media who have been complicit in this climate crisis.
And people like Tom Swarbrick, on prime-time radio yesterday, was happily telling us that there's no need for a COBR A meeting.
That we can just 'cope'.
It's just a hot summer.
Anyone in the media downplaying the harms we are experiencing from climate change should be forced to account for themselves when our impending food chain collapse happens.
This is a serious warning that people like Tom are being paid to make us ignore.
Twelve years since you left us, Dad. And I never stopped talking to you.
I tell you about the people who write to me because you got them through their worst night. I tell you about the work, the wins, the days that ask too much.
Mostly I tell you about your grandchildren. They know your laugh. They ask about what you were like. I tell them you were kind.
You spent your life making people feel less alone. That job is ours now.
Miss you today. Miss you always. Love you forever.
@SocialistHB I work for a charity that helps people with applying for PIP and also have health conditions myself. Took the plunge and applied today after holding back for so long due to hearing others experiences. Fingers crossed.
Caroline Lucas, Chris Packham, George Monbiot and others are asking you to add your signature to a petition, putting pressure on the government to hold a televised emergency briefing on the risks of climate and nature breakdown. They need 100,000 signatures. https://t.co/saHaqs34wf
It is now very clear that we have a full-blown climate emergency.
I have previously explained that the climate crisis is not anthropogenic climate change, as described by science. But the dangerous and reckless way, our political leaders and governments, have totally ignored the warnings about climate change.
The reason I say we have a full-blown climate emergency, is for the very same reason. Anthropogenic climate change, the associated heatwaves and wildfires, the warnings of food shortages, is so clear, that you have to be deep in irrational, cult like denial of reality, not to acknowledge it. But that is what the political leadership of all major governments are doing. They should be declaring a state of emergency, but instead they are barely mentioning climate change at all, in a pathetic attempt to gaslight the public.
The modern political/economic system, obsessed with economic growth, is a dangerous death cult.
There are enough resources on this planet for every living human. There are not enough resources on this planet for the fossil fuel industry, unregulated deforestation, data centers, private jets, and endless wars.
