I have just completed a series of four professional development videos on the subject of teaching effective whole-class reading lessons.
These videos contain high-quality footage of me teaching each part of the reading lesson structures from Primary Reading Simplified.

Our job is to teach the students we have. Not the ones we would like to have.
Not the ones we used to have.
Those we have right now.
All of them.

@MrsSpalding I agree. There are challenges, it’s hard at times but I still love it. Some days I’ll be exhausted but others are filled with fun, laughter and learning. I’ll take the bad because there can be so much good! I have a 3yo and an 18 month old.
A gay Tory man quietly vocalises his disdain at Braverman’s "homophobic rant" and is promptly escorted out by the police?
The police?!
If they do this to their own, what do you think they’ll do to you if they leave the ECHR and remain in power?
With May half-term approaching and the #CostOfLiving crisis still affecting so many people, here are all the places where kids can eat for £1 or FREE 🔥
Please share so that as many people know about this as possible 🔁 More info 👉 https://t.co/exyeYGJmFL
@rhiannonteaches We use a menu with different point allocated to different activities, 15-20 different activities, maybe tweaked depending on text covered. Pupils have points target and pick what they do. Teacher checks standard. Activities vary but in challenge to reflect points
@MissEmilyK_ @MrTs_NQTs We used to do a ‘village project’, make up their own place, draw it, learn persuasive devices to create guidebooks, job ads etc really create something nice and then at the end of unit day it’s going to be knocked down for runway - write to mp, mini protests, articles, speeches
@MrsMcGeeEnglish@Team_English1@GCSE_Macbeth@FunkyPedagogy We swapped to Victorian Poetry and lit extracts alongside A Christmas Carol. We can use key parts of GE like comparing the description of Scrooge to Havisham and looking at how Dickens creates character, then we can use modern interpretations. It’s been fun selecting extracts
It's important to note that the impending #TeacherStrike is NOT just about teacher pay!
It's also about:
1. Underfunded schools
2. Squeeze on the school day/hours
3. Teacher workload; one of the highest in the world!
= The means, ALL pupils get less quality teaching!
@MrAKidman@MrTs_NQTs We do with 2 pieces of quality marking (in depth with targets) per half term and acknowledgement marking/spag corrections/misconception correction etc. When we do learning walks there should be evidence of marking in the last two weeks.
So sad to see the amount of education staff and their families testing positive within the 10 day Christmas window. Having given so much all term, they now make another sacrifice. Sending love to you all, and shout if there is anything anyone can do for you.
