@CunningLuthor@MattZeitlin Here they dump the snow into the middle lane of one way streets downtown & dump truck it out when they have time. My daughter & I were laughing, after I picked her up from ballet class tonight we had a hard time getting out of downtown— dump truck crews blocking multiple roads 🙂
@SophieMcDLaw I do hang some of our clothes in the basement, but at -5 degrees with a foot of snow on the ground I’m currently not hanging out. Some of it’s going in the drier.
@vivian39_ The “rich” suburb north of us does that. Meanwhile over here only about half of the houses along the main roads shovel so the poor school kids have to climb over mountains of snow with their 40 pound backpacks on their way to class.
@JamesAFurey Interesting. At my public school I have been working with many of the same colleagues for 20+ years. Many came to our district after leaving private or urban schools. People usually only leave because they decide to stay home with children or move due to a spouse’s job.
@TheGoldenDays My heart says Toys R Us, but you seriously could not beat the appliance selection at Sears. Our Christmas tree was also purchased there, my daughter’s mattress, and my husband’s bike. You could ditch their clothing section and focus on these items, plus tools.
@U_arctos Yeah — I had maybe half an inch at 1 AM, and could only think %#@$ when I woke up at 8:30 and there was snow halfway up my hip. Would have been nice to tackle that in stages.
@rumblehtx@remgemx@ohremzel I just can’t imagine only one adult for 15 4 year olds! The Head Start classrooms in my school all have at least two, and even so it still often feels like herding cats.
@MementoMori_JMJ@audrawrongspeak I wouldn’t. Can’t trust the other drivers. My car was just totaled when I was plowed into by another driver while sitting at a red light. And it wasn’t even snowing, just a light mist falling.
@teachthemx3@ProfUnfiltered I don’t think there’s similar pressure for certain grades per say, except from certain helicopter parents who only think their little darlings should earn A’s. But aside from the occasional kindergartener passing into the next grade is assured.
@mom_of_littles My son is gifted in all areas but I held him back and had him start K at 6. Why? He was wiggly and socially probably wasn’t ready either. It was a good decision. He has gifted pull out and teachers differentiate and give him more advanced material so he isn’t bored.
@educator4ever36 Our HS has a huge career tech center, and I wish every HS did. So many kids find purpose there, and they come out with credentials in hair styling, auto repair, fire fighting, etc, but it’s only half their day so they still get to learn HS English and government.
@CompletedStreet It depends. There’s a property at the end of our street that was grandfathered in commercial. It was a Chipotle. Cars were parked all over the street and people threw trash in the yards. Later they moved and it became a far less popular BBQ place. That was fine.
