Andy Burnham has told his justice secretary to draw up plans to prevent the early release of PC Andrew Harper’s killers and present them to parliament amid a mounting backlash from the victim’s family and the police
The prime minister was said to be “increasingly confident” that a “solution” could be found despite stark warnings from officials that it would be impossible to prevent the release of Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers
A government source told The Times that Burnham had “never accepted” that he must choose between releasing “perpetrators of rape, grooming and the killers of police officers”. He has told Alex Norris, the new justice secretary, to find a solution before parliament returns in September
It remains unclear how ministers will prevent the release of Cole and Bowers, two of those responsible for his death. Burnham has asked officials to look into an exemption for the killers of emergency workers despite an admission from Downing Street that it would not be possible without keeping all those convicted of manslaughter behind bars
Before making his announcement last week Burnham was presented with two options which would have prevented their release but chose not to pursue them. He was explicitly warned that this would lead to the early release of PC Harpers killers
Under the two proposals, all prisoners sentenced to more than ten years or to more than seven years would not have qualified for early release. Cole and Bowers were each sentenced to 13 years for manslaughter
Burnham chose a third option based on the type of offence rather than the length of sentence. It means prisoners convicted of rape, serious child sex and other grooming offences will remain behind bars
A Whitehall source insisted there were “no good choices” and that even if Burnham had gone for one of the first two options, it would have meant rapists and sex offenders given shorter sentences would be released early

Nobody In Government Can Say They Were Not Warned
In 2016, NATO's senior European commander, General Philip Breedlove, told the BBC that Russia and Syria were deliberately weaponising migration to overwhelm European structures and break European resolve. In 2024 the Telegraph reported the Kremlin was using private militias to control migration routes into Europe. This year, Polish ministers and military commanders told Fox News that Russia and Belarus are running an organised operation, migrants flown to Minsk, funnelled to the border, pushed across in coordinated waves designed to test NATO's resolve. Lithuania has found over a dozen tunnels under that frontier since January. Finland shut its border entirely over the same concerns in 2024. NATO commanders, national governments and border services across Eastern Europe have warned the same thing for a decade.
Britain's own watchdog has told the government it cannot rule out those same migrants reaching these shores. Jonathan Hall KC, the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, reported that Manston, where Channel migrants are held, became so overwhelmed that people were released before checks were completed. Many arrivals carry no form of identity. Hall has recommended live facial recognition at Kent because the current system cannot reliably check arrivals against terror watchlists, and has warned that exposure to serious violence abroad is a relevant factor in assessing individual risk.
On Sunday night, a single dinghy carrying 230 people crossed the Channel, the largest number ever recorded on one boat, beating July's record of 165. Chris Philp watched French Gendarmes stand by in knee-deep water and do nothing to stop it. The average number of migrants per boat has risen from seven in 2018 to over 70 this month, smugglers packing them in ever tighter while Britain calls this progress because the boat count, not the passenger count, has fallen.
Put these facts together and the picture is not ambiguous. A hostile state tactic, identified by NATO's own commanders for a decade, is active on Europe's eastern border today. Britain's own reviewer has confirmed its processing system has released people before verification was complete. Nobody needs to prove where any individual has travelled to see the danger. The danger is the gap itself, a system admitting record numbers of unverified young men and dispersing them into towns and cities before it can say who they are.
That is what makes the government's posture so hard to defend. It is not managing a humanitarian inflow with imperfect resources. It is operating a system its own reviewer says has already failed to complete checks before release, against a backdrop where using migration as a weapon is not disputed by a single serious government in Eastern Europe. A four per cent removal rate. Hotel contracts running to 2039. Twelve new asylum centres opened without informing the MPs whose constituents will live beside them, and a Community Sponsorship Scheme inviting British families to house arrivals from the same nationalities, with no biometric registry to check any of them.
If a hostile actor wanted a soft entry point into a Western state, this is what one would look like: record numbers, low verification, rapid dispersal, and a government whose language treats every question about it as prejudice rather than security. Nobody in office can say they were not told. NATO said it in 2016. Poland and Lithuania are saying it now, with tunnels and troops to show for it.
If something happens, the government will not be able to claim it had no warning. The warnings are dated, named and official. What has been missing is not information. It is the will to act on it before the day arrives when acting on it is no longer a choice.

The word hero is used a lot these days. But, these two young women are heroes in every sense of the word 💗 Kelsey Pirie and Emma Brown were attending a friend's wedding, when they heard screams coming from a nearby country park.
The girls, who are both nurses at a Welsh hospital, instantly took action. Still dressed in their wedidng clothes, they kicked off their heels and ran over to where the screams were coming from.
As they arrived, they realised the severity of the situation. A three-year-old boy had been pulled from a pond and wasn't breathing. Kelsey and Emma immediately took over and despite being adult care nurses with no previous experience of performing CPR on children, their professional instincts kicked in.
They spent five minutes attempting to resuscitate the boy, who initially had no pulse.
Kelsey said: “We don’t know how long he had been in the water but he was unresponsive and there were no signs of life. He had no pulse. I started doing chest compressions and Emma started giving rescue breaths.”
Emma added: “It was difficult due to the amount of water, but after about five minutes he started breathing.”
Paramedics and an air ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the little boy to hospital, while Kelsey and Emma, adrenaline still going, returned to the wedding.
“We didn’t really have a chance to process it; we had to snap back into wedding mode. I’m so thankful it was all ok," Emma said, adding: “If it had happened 10 minutes later we would have been inside for the ceremony and might not ever have knownwhat was going on."
The three-year-old boy was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition - no doubt thanks to the brave actions of these two amazing girls that day ❤️
Emma and Kelsey, and another gentleman, Stefan Johnson who first pulled the three year-old from the water, have now been nominated by South Wales Police for a bravery award from the Royal Humane Society for their courage in saving his life.
Right place. Right time. Right people. Absolute heroes 🙏❤️
Folks at Christmas on a cold Winter’s day bet Christmas & NY I got on a train from Twickenham to Swansea to meet sacked SWP SGT Rhodri Davies (an Ex MET officer who knew Rods brought his case to my attention)
I arrived & Met Rods he stands over 6ft he holds himself well & is very intelligent; he Immediately started telling me in detail about his case; it had consumed him for years over next few hours I read his case papers statements & saw all CCTV in a somewhat state of horror;
I saw & smelt a stinky RAT very quickly (that’s what I now call Det Chief Inspector EMMA JONES/White I rarely ever insult individuals personally but she is someone very special & deserves such condemnation yes a revengeful nasty Individual)
I returned to Wales 4 weeks later for Sgt Davies Appeal against his dismissal; I was certain he would WIN & be reinstated as the case was chaotic & in a mess & against the flow of evidence & CCTV;
What had brought this matter to a head was that Rods was brave enough to challenge TWO Female Detectives who had victimised discriminated against him one a DI (now retired) & the other was D/S Emma Jones; they thought being females NO ONE would dare challenge them; well Rods did & won & was awarded a payout by the chief Constable who settled just weeks before the hearing;
The seed of revenge was thereafter planted by EMMA JONES

I went to a barbecue recently & met his Mum & Dad; his mum is absolutely distraught of what South Wales Police have done to her son; I could not consul her in any way shape or form & I didn’t even try I was with her;
For taking to the floor a 6’ 7inch violent THUG & giving two distraction blows to protect his colleagues in the custody suite after he had assaulted THREE officers & head-butted a police vehicle in the street & required SEVEN officers & a Police Dog to subdue him Rods became the victim of a complaint & NOT by the THUG as he didn’t complain;
However this interaction reached the PSD & hey Fucking Ho who was the DCI there? Yes the RAT & the rest as they say is history the REVENGE seed started to grow under HER WATCH!
They threw the book at Rods he faced EIGHT charges & Gross Misconduct hearing 18mths ago!
Rods was represented at his 1st Misconduct hearing by Colin Banham a top drawer Barrister in police misconduct who said within days of the two week hearing starting I don’t know what it is Mr Davies but whatever I say; this panel I’m certain are going to find you guilty & hey fucking ho he was right he was found guilty on 5 of the 8 Disciplinary charges & sacked without Notice & put on the police barred list:
The panel of three led by a legally qualified chair aged about 78yrs came back quite quickly with their finding; when asked by Mr Banham how did you come to your findings/conclusions there was some uncomfortable shuffling & silence they hadn’t evidenced their findings! (You have to evidence each of your findings ) SO? They retired again for 2.5yrs to evidence their findings!!🤷♂️🙄
Back to January this year Colin Banham AGAIN represented Rods at his appeal & carefully ripped apart nearly all the findings of the original panel; it was presided over by a legally qualified chair a woman a male ACC from Wilts & a male lay person;
He was acquitted on 4 of 5 charges so just one charge remained out of the 8; Rods was taken to a side room & advised that his sacking would probably Now be a Final Written Warning > so we were all STUNNED when on just one charge he was still sacked;
Ironically a Senior officer gave evidence last week at Rods ET & stated that under New Guileless on the use of force SGT Davies would probably NOT have faced a Disciplinary hearing!
Sgt Davies had qualified as Sgt in 5yrs & Insp in 9 & would have gone higher His relationship broke down & he lost his house;
He payed a high price for putting in a grievance & winning against a Female Officer who went on to do it >AGAIN

End Of Term Report: Bridget Phillipson. Grade: F. Must Do Better Is No Longer Sufficient.
As children across England sit their exams this week, some of them are doing so in schools they did not choose, having been displaced from schools their families stretched to afford, by a policy that promised 6,500 new teachers and cannot confirm a single one was hired. That is Bridget Phillipson's record. Here is the full assessment.
Private school VAT. The government promised the levy would displace around 14,000 pupils into the state sector and fund 6,500 new teachers. The original internal estimate was 3,000 pupils. The actual figure is over 43,000, three times the revised estimate and fourteen times the original one. Over 100 private schools have closed, including schools that explicitly named the VAT policy as the cause of their collapse. Fees have risen on average 14 percent, substantially above Treasury forecasts, hitting middle income families hardest, the people Labour claimed it was protecting. Smaller, more affordable independent schools have been destroyed. The country's most prestigious and expensive institutions have barely noticed.
On the 6,500 new teachers: when asked in Parliament how many had actually been recruited using the VAT revenue, a government minister declined to answer. The question was put directly and left unanswered. The government does not know, or will not say, how many teachers its flagship policy created. What is known is that more teachers have left the profession than joined it in the last recorded period. The state sector is absorbing tens of thousands of additional pupils while the teaching workforce shrinks.
Kemi Badenoch called Phillipson a spiteful class warrior. The evidence supports the description. The policy was not designed around evidence. The government's own estimate was out by a factor of fourteen. It was designed around ideology, the belief that private education is an offence against equality and that taxing it is its own reward regardless of consequences. The consequences landed not on Eton but on families who stretched to afford smaller schools that no longer exist.
The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that sex under the Equality Act means biological sex. That was one year ago. The Equality and Human Rights Commission drafted its code of practice. Phillipson received it and sat on it. Baroness Falkner, who oversaw the drafting, said publicly that the guidance is ready and that the delay is political. The charge has gone unanswered. The minister holds the title Secretary of State for Women and Equalities while withholding the legal protections the law requires her to implement.
Schools are being nudged toward identity-based decision-making in areas that demand caution, maturity and parental involvement. Teachers are placed in an impossible position, told to affirm identity claims before maturity, before medical certainty, often before parents are informed. The Cass Review explicitly warned against premature affirmation. The guidance ignores that warning. When things go wrong it will not be ministers who face the consequences. It will be teachers.
The Eton-backed free sixth form in Middlesbrough, a free school for deprived pupils in one of England's poorest areas, was cancelled not because it failed but because it threatened to succeed in a way the government could not control.
The curriculum is being diluted. The EBacc is under pressure. Knowledge is being replaced with flexibility, which means lower academic floors for the children least able to absorb that cost.
While children sit their exams, the record speaks. Over 43,000 pupils displaced. Over 100 schools closed. Zero confirmed new teachers from a policy that promised 6,500. Legal guidance withheld. Safeguarding inverted. Excellence cancelled. Not fit for purpose. Should not be allowed to continue in post.

The Taliban Got £171 Million. Al-Jolani Got £95 Million. The Boats Keep Coming. Someone Is Happy With This Arrangement.
In October 2025, Britain removed Hayat Tahrir al-Sham from its list of proscribed terrorist organisations. Months earlier, Foreign Secretary David Lammy had flown to Damascus and handed its former leader, Ahmed al-Jolani, £95 million in aid. On 31 March 2026, al-Jolani arrived at Downing Street for talks with Keir Starmer, the first visit by a Syrian head of state to London since Assad's fall. He also met the Attorney General and the Home Secretary. Al-Jolani led HTS from its founding. Before the rebranding, his organisation was designated by the British government itself as a terrorist group. The designation was lifted. The cheque was written. The visit was photographed. According to Downing Street's own readout, Starmer used the meeting to urge "closer work together on returns of illegal migrants, on border security, and on tackling people smuggling networks." The former leader of a proscribed terrorist organisation was being asked to help stop the boats.
Britain sends £171 million a year to Afghanistan. The Taliban has banned women from working for the NGOs that previously delivered it. The government's own parliamentary documents acknowledge the aid cannot be effectively delivered. Ninety-four percent of NGOs fully or partially ceased operations after the ban. The money goes anyway.
In January 2026, al-Hol camp in northeast Syria, which held around 9,000 male ISIS suspects from an estimated 60 countries alongside tens of thousands of family members, collapsed amid fighting between Syrian government forces and Kurdish fighters. A hundred and twenty ISIS members escaped from Shaddadi prison. The Kurdish forces that had guarded the facilities for years withdrew. Syria confirmed a mass escape of ISIS-linked individuals following that withdrawal. Their whereabouts are unknown. Over 70% of those crossing the Channel are undocumented young men from Syria, Afghanistan, Eritrea and Sudan. They carry no papers. Their histories cannot be verified. Britain has no biometric screening mechanism capable of checking arrivals against Syrian detention escape lists, because Syria has no functioning civil registry against which to check them. So the question that nobody in government is prepared to answer is this: how many of the men arriving on British beaches since January 2026 were in those camps? The honest answer is that nobody knows. The more troubling answer is that the government has built no mechanism to find out.
Jonathan Hall, the government's own Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, said in the aftermath of the Belfast stabbing that asylum seekers from conflict zones present elevated risk profiles, that trauma from witnessed or perpetrated violence compounds that risk, and that his questions about the national security implications of mass migration had been met by the government with silence. The security services' own assessment framework treats exposure to serious violence as a material risk factor. Hall is not speculating. He is describing the government's own methodology.
In the year to June 2025, asylum applications rose 17% and small boat arrivals rose 14%. Twelve new asylum centres were opened this week without informing the MPs in whose constituencies they sit. Speaker Lindsay Hoyle called it totally unacceptable from the chair. Hotel accommodation contracts run until 2039.
A government trying to stop the boats does not pay the regimes the arrivals are fleeing. It does not hand £95 million to a former proscribed terrorist and ask him to tackle people smuggling. It does not build hotel infrastructure contracted until 2039. And it does not open twelve new asylum centres without telling the MPs whose constituents will live next to them.

From Scotland to London, children were raped, trafficked, tortured, and murdered.
Children as young as four years old were passed on and sold by their own mothers to men to be raped.
Children endured decades of trafficking, filmed blackmail, "red rooms" of torture, animal rape, and witnessed murders of other girls. They were subjected to extreme violence including penetration by objects, strangulation, and backstreet abortions.
Pure evil has been allowed to continue since as early as the 1950s. The majority of perpetrators were Muslim men, and the people paid to protect these children didn’t just turn a blind eye; some were directly involved in the abuse and rape.
As we head into Stage 3 of the inquiry, we will be naming those individuals involved and pursuing private prosecutions.
So far, the inquiry has held two weeks of hearings in London, initiated multiple criminal investigations, taken legal action against dozens of services, collected files and evidence, and continues to give survivors and families a platform.
Some survivors are still being ignored and waiting for investigations to open. The NCA have still not responded to us and the interest of the NPCC is to safeguard the people we intend to name.

These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries.
Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000.
Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous."
The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before.
Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.

Hard-working Brits are being squeezed harder than ever by this Labour government, higher taxes, National Insurance hikes, and endless spending, while many feel the money is being funnelled toward those who aren’t contributing and open-door policies that prioritise illegal migrants over our own struggling households.
People are fed up. They’re working longer, paying more, and seeing less in return. Families are cutting back on basics while the government lectures them about “fairness” and reaches deeper into their pockets.
Nigel isn’t grandstanding. He’s stating what millions of taxpayers already know in their bones: Government has no money of its own. Every pound it spends is taken from someone, usually the same people already battling bills, rents, and stagnant wages.

On nous accuse presque d’être des privilégiés parce qu’on touche notre retraite. Mais qu’est-ce qu’on a vraiment volé à qui que ce soit ?
On a connu les semaines à 45, 48, parfois 50 heures. On faisait des heures supplémentaires sans même les compter, parce qu’il fallait nourrir la famille. On se levait à 5h, on rentrait parfois cassé, le dos en miettes, les mains abîmées. On ne pleurait pas, on ne faisait pas de burn-out : on tenait bon.
On a élevé nos enfants sans crèche, sans allocations familiales mirobolantes, sans aide de l’État. Juste avec notre salaire et notre courage. Et on en est fiers.
Aujourd’hui, on nous regarde de travers en disant que « les jeunes paient pour nos retraites ». Mais ce n’est pas nous le problème. C’est un système qui a été détourné, mal géré, et qui accueille de plus en plus d’assistés au lieu de récompenser ceux qui travaillent.
Nous, on a construit ce pays. Les routes, les usines, les écoles, les logements. On a bossé dur, souvent dans des conditions que beaucoup ne supporteraient plus aujourd’hui.
Alors oui, notre retraite, on l’a bien méritée. Pas par privilège. Par usure. Par sacrifice. Par devoir accompli.
