SS United States passing Key West on her Final Voyage. Longer than Titanic at 1,000 ft, she still holds the fastest transatlantic crossing record—3 days, 10 hours, 40 mins.
Will America save her or sink her in USA 250th?

@NancyAFrench My favorite is West Loop from @Walgreens. The only trouble is that ever since COVID, it’s harder to find any pantyhose, much less my favorite brand.
@NancyAFrench Depends on the brand. Typically, I get three to four wears out of them, although a full work week is not uncommon. Since there are three per pack, I often only go through two packs a month, maybe three.
@LeahLibresco@museofhistory Your father was a magnificent teacher. I had him for multiple classes and consider them to be a highlight of my time at Hofstra. He’ll truly be missed by his students. I’ll be sure to add him to my prayers tonight. God bless!

Of the 1,200-person American University of Afghanistan community — local staff, faculty and students—perhaps 50 have been able to get out. Not acceptable. We need to #SaveThemAll. #DigitalDunkirk https://t.co/scWb1BWfud
This thread is filled with donation opportunities for those dealing with the situation in Afghanistan. Please RT it and consider donating.
First the Commander of the USAF in Qatar is accepting donations that will go directly to US military personnel in Qatar and in Kabul.
But for the generosity of friends, I would have spent the last few days in a 35 degree apartment, with no heat, electricity, or water. To all those Texans who opened up their homes, thank you! You saved lives. #TexasStrong#TexasBlackout#ERCOTFail#prayfortexas
@RichieARomero My only point is that a capacity market, from explanations given, does not cure that particular problem. Even if Texas had one, there would not be an added incentive to winterize when Texans culturally and from past experience do not expect Arctic freezes across the state.
Lots of chatter about creating a TX capacity market. The current debacle, however, doesn’t seem to stem from lack of capacity, so much as existing capacity failing due to a deep freeze. I have yet to hear how capacity market would insulate infrastructure to cold. #TexasBlackout
@RichieARomero Agreed. The failure to winterize played a massive role. It represents a lack of imagination and basic precautions that should not go unanswered.
Any patience I had with the so-called “rolling” blackout dissipated the moment I could I see my breadth in my apartment. Is #austinenergy even pretending to rotate load at this point? It’s been 33 hours. #Austinblackout
Dancing at the Broken Spoke was the first time I felt like a Texan. To James White, the man who made that possible, may God bless you on your final two-step. #brokenspoke
@jordanlperkins I got out of the habit during my time with the U.S. Senate. Silence seemed to be the safest option then. I only tweet now on occasion, typically when my feelings override my instincts for self-preservation.
