Please pay doctors. If we can find money for politicians, pay doctors.
How this is a negotiation is insincere.
Once you pay them, pay all members of the uniformed forces and teachers a decent wage with health benefits that actually make their lives better.
When I was an intern in 2011, we earned 78,000/- and that’s why we formed the union so such kind of things NEVER happen in our lifetime.
The KMPDU was registered on 31st August 2011.
President Kibaki then raised doctor entry (intern) salaries to 141,000/-.
Buana just throw away (Article 41 of) the constitution so that we go back to ‘era before the constitution’.
Dear New Doc,
Never get offended when a nurse or pharmacist calls to verify a medication order. We’re all human, we all make mistakes, and I promise you one day that call will save your ass.
Once rescued a lady who had been hit by a nduthi along Mbagathi road.
Took her to Mbagathi hospital. Those 2 hours at that hospital tramautized me.
Stench of blood, faeces and so many victims of stabbings, accidents, alcohol poisoning kept streaming in.
Doc alikuwa mmoja peke and i can swear he didn’t look older than thirty.
Yeye ndo alikuwa anarun ER mzima.
Then unaskia story za politicians getting conned of millions by mistresses unaskia kuhama tu nchi na wengine wananunua mashamba za 1 B zenye hawataishi ju watakua wamekufa unakasirika.
you cannot solve the current health workforce crisis using free medical camps
free medical camps are used by drug companies to dispose of short expiry drugs to the unsuspecting public
I don’t understand how SRC came to decide that medical interns stipends be at Kshs 50,000/- to 70,000/-.
In 2016/2017, together with SRC we did a thorough job comparing countries of similar economic status, investment in education, complexity of job, value of job in generating impact (revenue, savings in other drs who would have been employed if interns were not there, patient outcomes, etc).
We documented and it is fact that interns are 27% of health workforce. Imagine 27% of all money we would pay to workers if interns were not there.
You know how much health workers cost now? It is 87 B a year. Summed up for all Counties and minus Referral Hospitals. A third of 87 B would be near 30 B Kshs.
So interns are saving Kenya 30 B and we want to argue that 5B is way too much to pay them. A mere 16% of what they are saving the taxpayer?
Further, we compared intern salaries with countries of similar economic status.
Plus interns actually work.
See how we came up with the figures in the CBA?
May lightening strike scrotums and ovaries failing this country and unnecessarily provoking doctors.
And you, please hide this kind of thinking… Not for your caliber.
Currently going down in the streets of Eldoret. Doctors strike. Total paralysis. We are not backing down. Post and pay medical interns. We can not have incompetent people leading such big and important dockets like Health. #NakhumichaMustGo#postmedicalinterns
Every time you want to hate on public health care, always know you're an accident or an emergency away from being a patient at a public hospital. Your insurance will not save you. So whatever you do, fight for a working public health care system.
