One for the cricket purists…

This slightly odd patch is where we spilt a bit of fertiliser earlier in the year. Not enough to kill the grass but has grown like hell and been the best looking patch on the square all season. But once cut down it is patchy and thin. The grass is very coarse even after regular verti-cutting and glad it’s on the edge of the pitch.

This is a good example of why we like to keep squares slightly on the hungry and dry side. We believe grass with everything it needs gets a bit lazy and won’t perform how you would like for a cricket square.
